Boohwal
Boohwal ( ko, "부활", lit=Born Again, is a South Korean rock band, formed in 1985 by the lead guitarist/songwriter Kim Tae-won. History Formation and the 1980s Kim Tae-won changed the name of the group from "The End" to "부활" ("Boohwal") in ‘86 following the departure of the vocalist Kim Jong Seo (김종서). They led the heavy metal boom in the 80s along with other bands such as Baekdoosan (백두산), Sinawe (시나위), , and Black Hole (블랙홀). Boohwal, Baekdoosan, and Sinawe were called the ‘Big 3’ by the media as they were all led by talented guitarists (Boohwal – Kim Tae Won, Baekdoosan – Kim Do Kyun 김도균, Sinawe – Shin Dae Chul 신대철), had unique talented vocalists and all aimed to create heavy metal music. Jung Dong-ha
Jung Dong-ha (born Jung Jae-hwan on April 17, 1980) is a South Korean singer, musical actor, radio personality and a vocal major professor at Kyungpook National University. Jung joined as a vocalist of South Korean rock band Boohwal in 2005, after releasing three albums with Boohwal Jung left the band in 2014. Park Wan-kyu
Park Wan-kyu (; born December 1, 1973) is a South Korean singer. He was a lead vocalist of the band Boohwal, and left them to release his first solo album, with the title track "Love of a Thousands Years (천 년의 사랑)" that became his signature song in 1999 but returned to the group in 2019 after 22 years. He has recorded many soundtracks for Korean dramas, and had his first substantial acting role in one in 2013. Kim Tae-won (, April 12, 1965) is a Korean guitarist with over 30 years of experience in Korean music industry, currently leading one of the most successful rock bands in Korean music history, Boohwal. His life was dramatised in a four episode KBS2 short series '' Rock, Rock, Rock'', where Kim was portrayed by musician-actor No Minwoo. Adolescence He was a talented billiards player, having achieved the level of 300 points as a highschool senior. His guitar skill was even more outstanding: He is said to have been able to play proficiently the guitar riff in Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I'm Gonna Leave You” in middle school and the guitar solo of (towards the end of the song) Deep Purple's " Highway Star" at a much faster speed than normal. Sinawe
Sinawe ( ko, 시나위) is a heavy metal/rock band from South Korea. Led by guitarist and sole constant member Shin Daechul, they are credited as being the first heavy metal band in South Korea. During its golden age in the late 1980s and mid 1990s, many now renowned musicians such as Yim Jae-beom, Kim Jong-seo, Seo Taiji and Bada Kim honed their musical abilities while members of Sinawe. History Shin Daechul, the son of Shin Jung-hyeon, who is considered "the Godfather of Korean rock music," formed Sinawe in 1986 and they released their first album that same year. The album, featuring Yim Jae-beom, sold 400,000 copies and the band took to the forefront of Korean heavy metal. However the first of several complete lineup changes took place the following year for their second album ''Down and Up''. Shin Dae Chul
Shin Daechul ( ko, 신대철) is a South Korean musician and songwriter. He is best known as leader and guitarist of Sinawe, who are considered one of the first heavy metal bands in South Korea. He is the son of Shin Jung-hyeon, who is often called "the Godfather of Korean rock music," and the older brother of fellow musicians Shin Yunchul and Shin Seokchul. Career Shin Daechul was born on February 16, 1967, as the oldest of three sons. He began to learn guitar from his father in fourth grade following his father's release from prison for marijuana possession. "After y fathergot busted, he was always at home, so I had a good opportunity to learn from him." At 18 years old, Shin's band Sinawe released their first album in 1986. ''Happy Sunday'' ( ko, 해피 선데이) is a Korean reality show, reality-variety show shown on the KBS2 network, which competes directly against Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, MBC's ''Sunday Night (South Korean TV series), Sunday Night'' and Seoul Broadcasting System, SBS's ''Good Sunday'' line-up. Although it has been broadcast since 2003, its line-up of shows has frequently changed, with a complete revamp occurring in Spring of 2007.
