Bonifacio Gillego
Bonifacio H. Gillego (June 5, 1921 – August 1, 2002) was a Philippine politician, military officer, and author. He served in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, Philippine House of Representatives for three terms (1987–1998), representing the 2nd Legislative districts of Sorsogon, Legislative District of Sorsogon. "Boni" was one of the Framers of the 1987 Constitution. He had also served as a delegate to the 1970 Philippine Constitutional Convention election, Constitutional Convention in 1970. For his resistance against the Marcos dictatorship, which led to a 14-year exile from the country, Gillego is one of the heroes honored by having his name etched at the wall of remembrance at the Philippines' Bantayog ng mga Bayani, which honors the martyrs and heroes who fought the authoritarian regime of Ferdinand Marcos. Gregorio "Gringo" Ballesteros Honasan II (, born March 14, 1948), is a Filipino politician and a cashiered Philippine Army officer who led unsuccessful coups d'état against President Corazon Aquino. He played a key role in the 1986 EDSA Revolution that toppled President Ferdinand Marcos. After 1986, he led a series of unsuccessful but violent coup attempts against the administration of Corazon Aquino. President Fidel Ramos granted him amnesty in 1992. He entered politics and became a senator from 1995 to 2004, and again from 2007 to 2019. Celerina Gotladera (born Celerina Gillego; 1920–1993) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission during the Corazon Aquino administration. Gotladera's husband, Pantaleon G. Gotladera, served one term as Mayor of Bulan, Sorsogon in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. The main hospital in Bulan, Sorsogon is named Pantaleon G. Gotladera Memorial Hospital in his honor. Gotladera served as Mayor of Bulan, Sorsogon, until her death. Celerina Gotladera Street, the main thoroughfare in Bulan, is named in her honor. 1970 Philippine Constitutional Convention Election
A constitutional convention was called to change the 1935 Constitution of the Philippines, written to establish the Commonwealth of the Philippines. A special election was held on November 10, 1970 to elect the convention's delegates, which would convene in 1971. Former Philippine President Carlos P. Garcia was sworn in as the President of the Constitutional Convention on June 1, 1971. However, he died thirteen days after taking oath. Former President Diosdado Macapagal replaced Garcia. Sotero H.
