Bolgrad Glacier
Bolgrad Glacier ( bg, ледник Болград, lednik Bolgrad, ) is the 7.4 km long and 5.7 km wide glacier on the west side of Owen Ridge in southern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, situated south of Brook Glacier and north of Sirma Glacier. It drains west-southwestwards from Mount Allen, Mount Liptak and Mount Southwick, and flows south of Krusha Peak to leave the range and join Bender Glacier east of Gilbert Spur. The glacier is named after the Bulgarian High School of Bolgrad, a major Bulgarian education centre in Ukraine established in 1858. Location Bolgrad Glacier is centred at . Mount Southwick () is a mountain (3,280 m) in Owen Ridge near the south end of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica, located 9 nautical miles (17 km) south-southeast of Mount Craddock. The peak surmounts Bolgrad Glacier to the northwest, Kornicker Glacier to the east and Sirma Glacier to the southwest. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. List Of Glaciers In The Antarctic
There are many glaciers in the Antarctic. This set of lists does not include ice sheets, ice caps or ice fields, such as the Antarctic ice sheet, but includes glacial features that are defined by their flow, rather than general bodies of ice. The lists include outlet glaciers, valley glaciers, cirque glaciers, tidewater glaciers and ice streams. Ice streams are a type of glacier and many of them have "glacier" in their name, e.g. Pine Island Glacier. Ice shelves are listed separately in the List of Antarctic ice shelves. Krusha Peak ( bg, връх Круша, vrah Krusha, ) is the peak rising to 2800 m in Owen Ridge, southern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, surmounting Bolgrad Glacier to the southeast and Brook Glacier to the northwest. Mount Liptak
Mount Liptak () is a mountain, high with twin summits, located southeast of Mount Craddock in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. It surmounts Bolgrad Glacier to the west and Kornicker Glacier to the east. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1957 to 1959, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for L.H. Liptak, an aviation machinist mate in the U.S. Navy who served as plane captain on the first reconnaissance flights to this vicinity in January 1958. Mount Liptak was first successfully climbed on December 28, 2012, by Pachi Ibarra, Ralf Laier and Todd Passey. Ellsworth Land
Ellsworth Land is a portion of the Antarctic continent bounded on the west by Marie Byrd Land, on the north by Bellingshausen Sea, on the northeast by the base of Antarctic Peninsula, and on the east by the western margin of the Filchner–Ronne Ice Shelf. It extends between 103°24'W and 79°45'W. The area west of 90°W is unclaimed, the area between 84°W and 90°W is claimed by Chile only, and the remainder by Chile and the United Kingdom as a part of the British Antarctic Territory. Eights Coast stretches between 103°24'W and 89°35'W, and Bryan Coast between 89°35'W and 79°45'W.
