Bolaños Municipality
Bolaños Municipality is located in the north of the Mexican state of Jalisco. The municipality shares its border on the north with the municipalities of Mezquitic and Villa Guerrero and to the southeast with the municipality of Chimaltitán. To the south, it shares a border with the municipality of San Martín de Bolaños and to the southwest, it shares a border with the state of Nayarit. Climate Bolaños is surrounded with mountains and semi-desert and due to its topographical position in the canyon, Bolaños is often very hot. Bolaños is frequently one of the hottest spots in Mexico during the summer months, April–June with maximum temperature as high as 55 Celsius and in nighttime it can drop to only 7 Celsius. In the winter it can drop as low as -27 Celsius and in daytime high as 27 Celsius. Population The population of Bolaños totaled 5,019 inhabitants according to the 2005 census. Bolaños River
The Bolaños River is a river in Mexico flowing through the Sierra Madre Occidental, and a tributary of Rio Grande de Santiago. It has a length of 360 km and a watershed of about 10 000 square kilometers. Geography The river's origin is in the state of Zacatecas, about 60 km west of the city of Fresnillo, about 40 km south of Tropic of Cancer. It flows south between the Sierra los Huicholes on the west and the Sierra de Morones on the east. It enters the state of Jalisco some 85 km later, eventually draining into the Lerma Santiago River, approximately 40 km northwest of the city of Tequila. The last 32 km of the river form the boundary between the states of Jalisco and Nayarit. Bolaños de Calatrava is a city situated in the Ciudad Real province in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It is 4 kilometers from Almagro. History The first settlement dates back to Roman times. The area became a strategic point for trade and communication, linking Toledo with Córdoba and Mérida with the Mediterranean Sea. Bolaños Castle was built to provide housing and protection on the road from Toledo to Córdoba. Possession of the city was contested by the Taifa of Córdoba, the Taifa of Seville and the Taifa of Toledo, after the fragmentation of Al-Andalus. During the Reconquista, the region was in a constant state of siege and battle. With the Christian victory at Las Navas de Tolosa (1212), the area began to repopulate. Tobías Bolaños International Airport ( es, Aeropuerto Internacional Tobías Bolaños) is one of four international airports in Costa Rica, and the secondary airport serving the city of San José, after Juan Santamaría International Airport. It is located in downtown San José, in Pavas District, San José Canton. The airport is named for Costa Rican pilot Tobias Bolaños Palma (1892-1953). The airport has one runway (1566mx23m). Ycuá Bolaños Supermarket Fire
The Ycuá Bolaños supermarket fire was a disastrous fire that occurred on 1 August 2004 in Asunción, Paraguay. After the fire broke out, exits were locked to prevent people from stealing merchandise. The building also lacked adequate fire protection systems. Over 300 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. The president of the supermarket company, as well as various employees, were later sentenced to prison terms for their actions during the fire. Background The Ycuá Bolaños V supermarket, located in the capital city of Asunción, Paraguay, opened on 7 December 2001. The two-story building consisted of an underground parking garage on the lower level and a sales area and food court on the second story. Two separate mezzanines contained administrative offices and an extension of the food court.
