Bojan Kurajica
Bojan Kurajica (born 15 November 1947) is a Croatian-Bosnian chess grandmaster (chess), grandmaster (GM). Kurajica grew up in Split (city), Split. He earned the International Master (IM) title in 1965 by winning the World Junior Chess Championship, World Junior Championship. He moved to Zagreb in 1966 to study Italian and English at the Faculty of Philosophy, Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy, graduating in 1972. Kurajica was awarded the GM title in 1974. He played chess in Zagreb until 1979, when he relocated to Sarajevo in order to play for ŠK Bosna. He played for Yugoslavia in Chess Olympiads at 24th Chess Olympiad, Valletta 1980 (won team bronze medal) and 26th Chess Olympiad, Thessaloniki 1984. One of his notable tournament successes was joint 3rd/4th place (together with Mikhail Tal whom he beat in their individual game) at the 1976 Corus chess tournament, Wijk aan Zee (Fridrik Olafsson and Ljubomir Ljubojević won). Tata Steel Chess Tournament
The Tata Steel Chess Tournament is an annual chess tournament held in January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands. It was called the Hoogovens Tournament from its creation in 1938 until the sponsor Koninklijke Hoogovens merged with British Steel to form the Corus Group in 1999, after which the tournament was called the Corus Chess Tournament. Corus Group became Tata Steel Europe in 2007. Despite the name changes, the series is numbered sequentially from its Hoogovens beginnings; for example, the 2011 event was referred to as the 73rd Tata Steel Chess Tournament. Top grandmasters compete in the tournament, but regular club players are welcome to play as well. The Masters group pits fourteen of the world's best against each other in a round-robin tournament, and has sometimes been described as the "Wimbledon of Chess". Elo Rating
The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in zero-sum games such as chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physics professor. The Elo system was invented as an improved chess-rating system over the previously used Harkness system, but is also used as a rating system in association football, American football, baseball, basketball, pool, table tennis, and various board games and esports. The difference in the ratings between two players serves as a predictor of the outcome of a match. Two players with equal ratings who play against each other are expected to score an equal number of wins. A player whose rating is 100 points greater than their opponent's is expected to score 64%; if the difference is 200 points, then the expected score for the stronger player is 76%. Solin
Solin (Latin and it, Salona; grc, Σαλώνα ) is a town in Dalmatia, Croatia. It is situated right northeast of Split, on the Adriatic Sea and the river Jadro. Ljubomir Ljubojević
Ljubomir Ljubojević (; born November 2, 1950) is a Serbian chess grandmaster. He won the Yugoslav Chess Championship in 1977 (tied) and 1982. Life and career Ljubojević was born on 2 November 1950 in Titovo Užice, Yugoslavia (now Užice, Serbia). He was awarded the International Master (IM) title in 1970 and the Grandmaster (GM) title in 1971. Ljubojević was Yugoslav champion in 1977 (jointly) and 1982. He won the 1974 Canadian Open Chess Championship. In 1983 he was ranked third in the Elo rating list, but he never succeeded in reaching the Candidates Tournament stage of the World Championship. He played for Yugoslavia in twelve Chess Olympiads, nine times on , with an overall result of 63.5% (+66−22=75).
