Bois-Joli is a village in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It was formed through the 2023 New Brunswick local governance reforms. History Bois-Joli was incorporated on January 1, 2023 via the amalgamation of the former villages of Balmoral and Eel River Crossing as well as the concurrent annexation of adjacent unincorporated areas. Eel River Crossing
Eel River Crossing (2016 population: 1,953) is a Canadian village in Restigouche County, New Brunswick. The village branded itself Eel River Dundee in 2018 but the legal name remains Eel River Crossing. Eel River (Chaleur Bay) A descriptive derived from the French designation Anguille. Anse a l'Anguille changed to Eel River Cove by petition on October 14, 1950. In Mi'kmaq, Eel River was known as ''Okpĕgŭnchĭk'' which meant "discoloured foam on the water". Balmoral, New Brunswick
Balmoral is a Canadian community and former incorporated village in Restigouche County, New Brunswick. It is located approximately 10 kilometres south of Dalhousie. Although Balmoral's population presently meets the requirements for "town" status under the Municipalities Act of the Province of New Brunswick, the community has not yet made any change to its municipal status. The village also contains the neighbourhoods of Blair Athol, Saint-Maure, Selwood, and Upper Balmoral. On 1 January 2023, Balmoral became part of the new village of Bois-Joli.
