Bogdan Norčič
Bogdan Norčič (19 September 1953, Kranj – 4 April 2004, Cerklje na Gorenjskem) was a Yugoslavian ski jumper of Slovene ethnicity. He competed at the 1976 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Career On 20 March 1977, Norčič crashed during an attempt at the world world record for longest ski jump. Although he soared a world record distance of from Velikanka bratov Gorišek K165 in Planica in Yugoslavia, the feat was not official because he failed to land safely. Kranj
Kranj (, german: Krainburg) is the third-largest city in Slovenia, with a population of 37,941 (2020). It is located approximately northwest of Ljubljana. The centre of the City Municipality of Kranj and of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) is a mainly industrial city with significant electronics and rubber industries. Pavel Ploc
Pavel Ploc (, born 15 June 1964) is a Czech former ski jumping, ski jumper who competed for Czechoslovakia, winning two Olympic medals. Career At the Winter Olympics, he earned a silver in the individual normal hill in 1988 Winter Olympics, 1988 and a bronze in the individual large hill in 1984 Winter Olympics, 1984. Ploc also earned two bronze medals in the Team large hill event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships (FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1984, 1984, FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1989, 1989). He also won two medals at the FIS Ski Flying World Championships with a silver in FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 1983, 1983 and a bronze in FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 1985, 1985. Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze (''Heini Klopfer Ski Flying Hill'') is a ski flying hill in Oberstdorf, Germany. It was opened in 1950, and was later renamed after its architect, Heini Klopfer. A total of 21 world records have been set on the hill. The venue should not be confused with the Schattenberg ski jumping hill, also in Oberstdorf, about to the north. History 1949: Plans and realisation In 1949, they were originally discussing about whether they should just rather enlarge the existing Schattenbergschanze or build a complete new hill with calculation point at K120. Three ski jumpers Heini Klopfer, Sepp Weiler and Toni Brutscher together made a final decision to build a complete new hill and they found the perfect location. Čerťák
Čerťák is a ski jumping stadium with two hills located in the town of Harrachov in the Czech Republic. It was built in 1979 and both hill officially opened in 1980. The venue is most notable for being one of five ski flying hills in the world, though it also has three smaller hills close by. It is owned by the sports club TJ Jiskra Harrachov. Audience capacity is about 50,000. Despite being a flying hill, only two world records have ever set at Čerťák, both in the 1980s. It was also during this time, and into the early 1990s, that many horrific accidents occurred.
