Bogdan Istru
Bogdan Istru, pseudonym of Ion Bădărău ( in Pistruieni, Telenești – March 25, 1993 in Chișinău) was a Moldovan poet, a representative of proletculture. In 1931, he graduated from "Vasile Lupu" Normal (Teacher-Training) School of Iași, after which he worked as a teacher. Since 1932 he started publishing folk songs, anecdotes and riddles recorded in the newspaper "Moldovan word". He then started writing poems. Until occupying Bessarabia by the USSR in 1940, he had already published two volumes, both mentioned by George Călinescu in "The History of Romanian Literature from Origin to Present". Telenești District
Telenești () is a district ( ro, raion) in central Moldova, with the administrative center at Telenești. History The oldest recorded settlements of the district are: Banești, Peciste and Telenești, mentioned in 1437. At the time, the landowners had the right to sell their estate, in parts or entirely. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the region's economy developed (trade, agriculture, winery), resulting in a significant increase in population. In 1812, after the Treaty of Bucharest, Bessarabia was occupied by the Russian Empire, and an intense process of russification of the native population followed. In 1918, as a result of the fall of the Russian Empire, Bessarabia was united with Romania, and the Romanian government enacted a land reform. Academy Of Sciences Of Moldova
The Academy of Sciences of Moldova ( ro, Academia de Științe a Moldovei), established in 1961, is the main scientific organization of Moldova and coordinates research in all areas of science and technology. Ion Tighineanu has been the head of the Academy of Sciences since April 9, 2019. History As early as June 1946, the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences decided to establish the Moldovan Research Base of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Chisinau. In October 1949, the research base was transformed into the Moldavian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The grand opening of the Academy took place on August 2, 1961.
