Bodo Andreass
Bodo Andreass (born 21 December 1955 in Eilenburg, Germany) is a German boxing coach who has coached German, Nigerian, South African and Australian national boxing teams. Boxing career Andreass boxed from 1964 to 1981 in East Germany. He was a member of the national team from 1974 to 1981 and was the national champion in 1979. He had over 200 amateur bouts. Coaching career East Germany In 1983, Andreass started his coaching career and was an East German national coach from 1986 to 1990. Nigeria He subsequently took up appointment as the national coach of Nigeria from 1991 to 1994. Whilst in charge on the Nigerian team, two boxers won silver medals at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, one boxer won a gold medal and two boxers won silver medals. Boxing At The 2008 Summer Olympics
The boxing program of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China was held at the Workers Indoor Arena. Medals were awarded in eleven events, with each event corresponding to a recognized weight division of male boxers. The 2008 games were the last Olympic boxing competition to exclude women, as the International Olympic Committee approved the introduction of female boxing events for the 2012 London Olympics. Like other Olympic combat sports, two bronze medals are awarded; in the case of boxing, both losing semi-finalists receive a bronze medal, with no further play-off. Steve Rudic (born 21 January 1976 in Canberra) is an Australian boxer and Jiu-Jitsu practitioner best known for winning the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2006 in the men's super heavyweight division. A late starter to boxing, Steve was a former basketball player with the Canberra Cannons. He took up the sport at age 26 under the guidance of English born trainer Garry Hamilton and had just 26 fights with 18 wins before the Games.
