Boccard Point is a mountain summit in Jackson County, Oregon, United States with an elevation of . Environs Boccard Point is located in the Soda Mountain Wilderness, which was designated in the spring of 2009 by the United States Congress, and is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The surrounding wilderness encompasses a large amount of biological and geological diversity, covering the transition between Oregon's eastern deserts, and mountainous fir forests. The mountain and associated wilderness is located southeast of the cities of Medford and Ashland. Trails Since the designation of the Soda Mountain Wilderness, the road leading to Boccard Point had been decommissioned, and deterioration had made it difficult to traverse. Medford is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. As of the 2020 United States Census on April 1, 2020, the city had a total population of 85,824 and a metropolitan area population of 223,259, making the Medford MSA the fourth largest metro area in Oregon. The city was named in 1883 by David Loring, civil engineer and right-of-way agent for the Oregon and California Railroad, after Medford, Massachusetts, which was near Loring's hometown of Concord, Massachusetts. High Desert (Oregon)
The Oregon high desert is a region of the U.S. state of Oregon located east of the Cascade Range and south of the Blue Mountains, in the central and eastern parts of the state. Divided into a southern region and a northern region, the desert covers most of five Oregon counties and averages above sea level. The southwest region is part of the Great Basin and the southeast is the lower Owyhee River watershed. The northern region is part of the Columbia Plateau, where higher levels of rainfall allow the largest industry on private land to be the cultivation of alfalfa and hay.
