The Four-man bobsleigh competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy was held on 24 and 25 February, at Cesana Pariol. Records While the IOC does not consider bobsled times eligible for Olympic records, the FIBT does maintain records for both the start and a complete run at each track it competes. Cesana Pariol
Cesana Pariol was the venue for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The track, built for the games, is located in Cesana. The venue holds approximately 7,130 spectators, of whom 3,624 are seated. Construction details The track is constructed with about of ammonia refrigeration pipes to help form ice on the track for proper sliding. Numerous sensors located along the track ensure that the ice's thickness is kept between to keep the track properly smooth during competitions. History During construction of the track prior to the 2006 games, there was concern that the track would be completed in time for homologation. Lascelles Brown
Lascelles Brown (born October 12, 1974 in May Pen) is a Jamaican-born Canadian bobsledder who has competed for three countries since starting his career in 1999. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he is the first Jamaican-born athlete to win a Winter Olympic medal. Brown was a member of the Jamaica national bobsled team from 1999 to 2004, competing at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, as a brakeman for Winston Watt. The Jamaican duo set the track push record during those games. He continued training for bobsleigh at Calgary's Canada Olympic Park, where he met and married his wife Kara, a Canadian. As of 2011, they have three daughters and a son together. Ken Kotyk (born February 7, 1981) from Rama, Saskatchewan is a Canadian bobsledder who has competed since 2003. He won two medals in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in 2007 and a bronze in 2005. Pierre Lueders
Pierre Fritz Lueders (born 26 September 1970) is a Canadian Olympic, world and World Cup champion bobsledder who competed from 1990 to 2010. He piloted both two-man and four-man bobsleigh, retiring after the 2010 Winter Olympics. He was named to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Biography Lueders grew up in Edmonton and went to Winterburn School for elementary and junior high. He attended Jasper Place High School for grades 10 through 12. Brock Kreitzburg
Brock Kreitzburg (born February 16, 1976) is an American bobsledder who has competed since 2001. Career biography A graduate from the University of Toledo and a native of Akron, Ohio, Kreitzburg has been in the US Bobsled program since 2001. In 2003, Kreitzburg graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He became a Christian after his father had died from cancer 20 years earlier which caused "an emptiness" that he tried to fill "with so many different things in high school and even the beginning of college." Pavle Jovanovic (bobsledder)
Pavle Jovanovic (January 11, 1977May 3, 2020) was an American bobsledder of Serbian origin who had competed since 1997. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, he finished seventh both in the two-man event and in the four-man event. Although on the U.S. Bobsled team in 2002, he was disqualified from competing due to the presence of prohibited substances from food supplements, which he claimed were taken without his knowledge or intent. Jovanovic won a bronze medal in the four-man event at the 2004 FIBT World Championships in Königssee. In 2011, Jovanovic started to compete for Serbia. He was one of the best pushers in bobsledding, a position requiring extraordinary strength. Todd Hays
Todd Dennys Hays (born May 21, 1969) is a former American bobsledder who competed from 1994 to 2006. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the four-man event at Salt Lake City in 2002, breaking a 46-year medal drought for the US national bobsleigh team. He also won two medals in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in 2003 and a bronze in 2004. He finished third four times in the Bobsleigh World Cup, earning them twice in combined men's (2003-4, 2005-6) and once each in the two-man (2005–06) and four-man events (2003–04).
