Bobby Smyrniotis
Haralambos "Bobby" Smyrniotis (born April 24, 1979) is a Canadian soccer coach and former player who works as head coach of Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League. Smyrniotis is the co-founder of the Sigma FC soccer academy based in Mississauga. Playing career Smyrniotis played for the College of Charleston and York University. Coaching career Early career In 2003 and 2004, Smyrniotis was a coach in the academy system of Olympiacos. He co-founded Sigma FC, and was the team's head coach from 2005 to 2018. Forge FC 2019 season On October 1, 2018, Smyrniotis was announced as the first head coach and technical director of Canadian Premier League club Forge FC. During the 2019 season, Forge finished in second place during the Spring and Fall Seasons, both times behind Cavalry FC. 2020 Forge FC Season
The 2020 Forge FC season was the second season in the history of Forge FC. Forge were the defending league champions, having defeated Cavalry FC in the 2019 Canadian Premier League Finals. Before the start of the season, Forge announced that 18 players from the previous season would be returning in 2020. In addition to the domestic league, the club competed in the CONCACAF League, advancing to the quarter-finals for the first time. On September 19, Forge defeated HFX Wanderers FC 2–0 in the 2020 Canadian Premier League Final to win their second consecutive league title. 2021 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2021 Canadian Premier League season was the third season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Forge FC were defending champions, after defeating HFX Wanderers FC in the 2020 final. The season was planned to commence on May 22, the Victoria Day weekend, pending the approval of government authorities and the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. However, on May 14, it was announced that the start was to be pushed back to mid-June or early July. On June 5, the league committed to a full 28-match season, but that the season would begin in a single-site bubble at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba, promoted as "The Kickoff", with each team playing eight matches between June 26 and July 24. 2022 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2022 Canadian Premier League season is the fourth season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Pacific FC are the defending champions, having beaten Forge FC in the 2021 final. The regular season ran from April 7 to October 9, 2022. Each team played four games against each of the seven opponents for a total of 28 matches. Atlético Ottawa won the regular season championship on October 8, securing the club its first trophy. The CONCACAF Champions League, known officially as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons, is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF.
