Robert Kwame "Bob J" Johnson (? - 12 December 2010) was a famous Ghanaian cinematographer. Life and career Johnson worked on a number of highly rated Ghanaian films, often collaborating with the popular director Shirley Frimpong-Manso. He also worked on several television commercials and documentaries. He was well-loved within the acting community and was sometimes called Ghana's best cinematographer. Popularly known as "Bob J," Johnson was educated at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI). In addition to creating films within the Ghanaian movie industry, he worked in the camera department on international productions in the United States and the United Kingdom. Johnson was the former President of the Cinematographers Guild of Ghana (CGG). Death and legacy Johnson was an experienced professional motorbiker. Shirley Frimpong-Manso
Shirley Frimpong-Manso (born 16 March 1977) is a Ghanaian film director, writer, and producer. She is the founder and CEO of Sparrow Productions, a film, television and advertising production company. She won Best Director at the 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards. Frimpong-Manso is also a principal of Sparrow Station, a video streaming service for African entertainment from Sparrow and other African film producers. In 2013, she was ranked the 48th most influential person in Ghana according to E.tv Ghana. Frimpong-Manso is described as one who "seeks to raise the standard of film production in Ghana and Africa by telling progressive African stories as seen through the eyes of Africans." The National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) is an educational institution in Accra, Ghana. History and operations It was established in 1978 by the Government of Ghana as a public institution of higher education in film and television production. Since its inception, the institute has offered professional and academic education in film and television education, in affiliation with the University of Ghana.
