Bob Glading
Robert Henry Glading (10 March 1920 – 19 August 2014) was a New Zealand golfer. He won consecutive New Zealand Open championships in 1946 and 1947. Biography Growing up in Lower Hutt, Glading earned pocket money as a golf caddy, and he caddied at the 1932 New Zealand Open at the Wellington Golf Club at Heretaunga. As a 17-year-old amateur player, he entered the 1937 New Zealand Open in Hamilton, where he tied for 28th place. In the national amateur match-play championship that year he lost in the first round to Australian Harry Hattersley 4 and 3. The next year, Glading contested the 1938 New Zealand Open at Balmacewen in Dunedin, carding a 72-hole aggregate of 298, to finish 10 shots behind the champion, Bobby Locke, and reached the third round of the amateur match-play contest. Distinguished Service Cross (United Kingdom)
The Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) is a third-level military decoration awarded to officers; and, since 1993, Naval rating, ratings and other ranks of the British Armed Forces, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and the British Merchant Navy have been included. The New Zealand PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It is currently known for sponsorship reasons as the SEC NZ PGA Championship. Northcross is a northern suburb of the North Shore in the contiguous Auckland metropolitan area in New Zealand. It is located in the East Coast Bays, a string of small suburbs that make up the northern North Shore. It is located north of the Waitematā Harbour and is currently under local governance of Auckland Council. Commonwealth Tournament
The Commonwealth Tournament was a men's team golf tournament between teams of amateurs golfers from Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. It was played roughly every four years, in 1954, 1959, 1963, 1967, 1971 and 1975. In 1971 and 1975 there were only four teams, South Africa did not compete in 1971 while Australia missed the 1975 event. Format Each team played the others. Each match was contested over one day with foursomes in the morning and singles matches in the afternoon. There were 3 foursomes and 6 singles in each match. HMS Indomitable (92)
HMS ''Indomitable'' was a modified built for the Royal Navy during World War II. Originally planned to be the fourth of the class, she was redesigned to enable her to operate more aircraft, 48 instead of 36. A second hangar was added above the original, raising the flight deck by , although the hangar-side armour had to be reduced to compensate. The lower hangar was made shorter than the upper hangar due to the need for extra workshops and accommodation to support the added aircraft. Construction and early history ''Indomitable'' was laid down by Vickers-Armstrong at Barrow-in-Furness, on 10 November 1937. She was launched on 26 March 1940 and commissioned the following year in October. She was christened by Clementine Churchill. She sailed to the West Indies in November 1941 for her maiden voyage.
