Bob De Jong
Bob Johannes Carolus de Jong (born 13 November 1976) is a Dutch former speed skating, speed skater who specialized in long distances: five and ten kilometers. Speed skating career In 2006, he won the gold medal for the ten kilometer race at the 2006 Winter Olympics, Olympic Games in Turin, with a personal record of 13:01.57, beating world record holder Chad Hedrick and Carl Verheijen. He also skated in the men's 5000 m event and placed 6th. In 1998 Winter Olympics, 1998, he won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 m and 4th in the men's 5000 m. In 2010 Winter Olympics, 2010, he won the bronze medal in the men's 10,000 m. and in his fifth Olympics in 2014 he took his second Olympic Bronze in 10,000 m event. Leimuiden
Leimuiden is a Dutch village in the South Holland municipality of Kaag en Braassem. Leimuiden is located between the Braassemermeer, the Westeinderplassen and the Ringvaart. Leimuiden is located north of Alphen aan den Rijn. History The village was first mentioned in the first half of the 11th century as Letthemutha, and means "mouth of the Leiden river". Leimuiden is a peat excavation settlement from the Middle Ages. The Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church with built-in tower with needle spire. It was built in 1805 as a replacement of the 1555 church. It was restored between 1963 and 1965, and a consistory was added. Leimuiden was home to 551 people in 1840. Carl Verheijen
Carl Eduard Verheijen (born 26 May 1975) is a retired Dutch speed skater who specialized in the longer distances 5,000 m and the 10,000 m. Verheijen is the son of international speed skaters Rieneke Demming and Eddy Verheijen. He is in a relationship with retired skater Andrea Nuyt in Leusden. They have a daughter (Manouk, August 2005). Carl's brother Frank Verheijen is a marathon skater. He won two bronze medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics, in the 10000 m race and in the team pursuit. Chad Hedrick
Chad Hedrick (born April 17, 1977) is an American inline speed skater and ice speed skater. He was born in Spring, Texas. Hedrick revolutionized the inline speed skating world with his unique technique, called the double push, or DP. During his career he won 93 national championships and 50 world championships, as well as having a brand of inline skating wheels named after him. World Junior Speed Skating Championships
In 1971, the ISU congress decided to hold a World Junior Speed Skating Championships. After two test-championships (1972 and 1973), where only a boys' competition was held in the 1972 edition, the first official championship was introduced in Cortina d'Ampezzo. In this championship boys and girls could enter. Since this championship the World Junior Speed Skating Championships are held every year. The distances the boys have to skate in a championship were the 500m, 1500m, 3000m, and the 5000m. In 2015 the 1000 metres replaced the 3000m as part of the allround competition. Girls have the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and the 3000m on the programme. In 2002 the team pursuit was added to the allround competition and the 2009 edition saw the introduction of medals for the individual distances.
