The Board of Education for the City of York (YBE), also known as the York Board of Education is the former school district serving the Toronto suburb of York, Ontario. York is a district and former city within Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located northwest of Old Toronto, southwest of North York and east of Etobicoke, where it is bounded by the Humber River. The Toronto District School Board (TDSB), formerly known as English-language Public District School Board No. 12 prior to 1999, is the English-language public-secular school board for Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The minority public-secular francophone (Conseil scolaire Viamonde), public-separate anglophone (Toronto Catholic District School Board), and public-separate francophone (Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir) communities of Toronto also have their own publicly funded school boards and schools that operate in the same area, but which are independent of the TDSB. George Harvey Collegiate Institute (George Harvey CI, GHCI also known simply as Harvey) was a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly known as George Harvey Vocational School and George Harvey Secondary School. It was located in the former suburb of York and was part of the Toronto District School Board. Before 1998, it was part of the Board of Education for the City of York. The school opened in 1952 as the first vocational school in the former City of York for students who want to pursue skilled trades. Vaughan Road Academy (VRA), formerly known as Vaughan Road High School and Vaughan Road Collegiate Institute, is a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) facility that formerly operated as an International Baccalaureate high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. York Humber High School (also called York Humber HS, YMHS, or York Humber) is a specialized vocational basic high school located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is administered by the Toronto District School Board. Prior to 1998, it was part of the Board of Education for the City of York.
