Bo Waldemarsson
Major General Bo Erik Siwer Waldemarsson (born 28 November 1949) is a retired officer of the Swedish Air Force. His senior commands include commanding officer of the Middle Air Command and the Central Military District. Waldemarsson also served as the Commandant General in Stockholm for two years. Early life Waldemarsson was born on 28 November 1949 in Billinge Parish, Malmöhus County, Sweden, the son of Waldemar Waldemarsson and his wife Ewy (née Olin). He passed ''studentexamen'' in 1968. Career Waldemarsson was commissioned as an officer after graduating from the Royal Swedish Air Force Academy (''Flygvapnets krigsskola'', F 20) in 1973 and he was appointed lieutenant the same year at the Kalmar Wing, where he served from 1973 to 1976. The Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters ( sv, Högkvarteret, HKV) is the highest level of command in the Swedish Armed Forces. Established in 1994, its primary task is to command operations, but is also involved in areas such as military strategy, the overall development of the Swedish Armed Forces, and acting as a channel of contact with government. The Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences ( sv, Kungliga Krigsvetenskapsakademien) is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden and was founded on 12 November 1796 by Gustaf Wilhelm af Tibell. Major (Maj) ( sv, Major, Mj) is a field grade military officer rank in the Swedish Armed Forces, above the rank of captain and below the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is equivalent to the naval rank of lieutenant commander in the Swedish Navy. History The rank of major was introduced in the middle of the 16th century in the Spanish and German armies, and its holders were assigned to the regimental commander. After the introduction of the battalion division, the major was eventually given command of a battalion in all armies, as was the lieutenant colonel.
