Herbert Blumer
Herbert George Blumer (March 7, 1900 – April 13, 1987) was an American sociologist whose main scholarly interests were symbolic interactionism and methods of social research. Believing that individuals create social reality through collective and individual action, he was an avid interpreter and proponent of George Herbert Mead's social psychology, which he labeled ''symbolic interactionism''. Blumer elaborated and developed this line of thought in a series of articles, many of which were brought together in the book ''Symbolic Interactionism''. An ongoing theme throughout his work, he argued that the creation of social reality is a continuous process. Blumer was also a vociferous critic of positivistic methodological ideas in sociology. George Alder Blumer
George Alder Blumer, M.D. (1857-1940) was a physician, a mental hospital administrator, and a journal editor. He was a leader in the provision of humanitarian care for mental hospital patients. Blumer was born in Sunderland, England. His father was a physician as were his two brothers. His early education in England was followed by schooling in Germany and France. In 1874, he entered the medical school at the University of Edinburgh and remained for one year before he emigrated to the United States. He completed his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and graduated in 1879. After a residency of one year at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, he obtained a post of assistant physician at the New York State Lunatic Asylum (also known as the New York State Inebriate Asylum) in Utica, New York, under the superintendency of John P. Gray, M.D., a prominent psychiatrist. Gray died in 1886 and Blumer became the superintendent of Utica. ...

Laurence Elroy "Scrappy" Blumer (May 31, 1917 – October 23, 1997) was an American pilot in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was credited with six aerial victories, five of which he gained in a single action lasting no more than fifteen minutes on August 25, 1944, earning him the title of the "Fastest Ace in a Day". Early life Blumer was born in Walcott, North Dakota. His father was a storekeeper and clerk, and the Blumers moved to Colfax and then Fargo where Blumer attended elementary school, then Walcott again, finally settling in Kindred where Blumer attended high school. After graduation he worked for a couple of years before enrolling at Concordia College in Minnesota. Elano Blumer (born 14 June 1981), known as Elano, is a Brazilian football manager and former player who played as an attacking midfielder. Known for his accurate passing and precise set pieces, Elano started his senior career at Santos, and spent six years in Europe in the service of Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City and Galatasaray. He returned to Santos in 2011, and later joined fellow league teams Grêmio and Flamengo, before signing for Chennaiyin of the Indian Super League as their marquee player. Johann Jakob Blumer (29 August 1819, in Glarus – 12 November 1875) was a Swiss statesman. Blumer studied in Zürich, Bonn, and Berlin. In 1843 he was elected to the Landrat, and in 1861 became president of the Court of Appeals. Theodor Blumer
Theodor Anton Blumer (24 March 1881 – 21 September 1964) was a German composer and conductor. Blumer was born in Dresden. He studied composition with Felix Draeseke and W. Brookman at the Dresden Conservatory. In 1931 he became the conductor of the Dresden Radio Orchestra, and after this moved to Leipzig to head the Middle German Radio Orchestra there for eleven years. He spent the rest of his life in Berlin. Blumer's compositions include music for solo piano, string orchestra, and mixed chamber groups, as well as works for larger ensembles.
