Bluethumb Art Gallery
Bluethumb is an Australian online art marketplace. Started in 2011 by brothers Edward and George Hartley, Bluethumb now exhibits over 6500 emerging and established Australian artists’ work, including Archibald Prize finalists Kim Leutwyler, Loribelle Spirovski, Julius Killerby and Mertim Gokalp. In November 2015, Bluethumb represented Australia at the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen after winning QUT Creative Enterprise Australia’s Creative3 Pitch. Since representing Australia in the Creative Business Cup, Bluethumb have secured two rounds of funding. Adam Schwab and Jeremy Same, who are the co-founders of the AussieCommerce Group and Lux Group, invested in 2015, soon after the competition. The Archibald Prize is an Australian portraiture art prize for painting, generally seen as the most prestigious portrait prize in Australia. It was first awarded in 1921 after the receipt of a bequest from J. F. Archibald, J. F. Archibald, the editor of ''The Bulletin (Australian periodical), The Bulletin'' who died in 1919. Kim Leutwyler
Kim Leutwyler, is an emerging artist based in Sydney, Australia. She has exhibited her work in multiple galleries across both Australia and the United States. While creating a collection of pieces that utilize different mediums, she most frequently displays paintings that focus on progressive ideas of gender and beauty, as well as people who identify as queer. Personal life and education Born in the United States, Kim Leutwyler spent her formative years traveling and did not spend a substantial amount of time in any given area; she briefly lived in Chicago, Illinois, Arizona, and Connecticut. Mertim Gokalp
Mertim Gokalp (born 1981) is a Turkish-born Australian portrait and figure painter. He was a finalist for the Archibald Prize in 2013 with his portrait of Bille Brown, and he was a finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2015 with his painting "The Sacrifice of the Model". Life and work Gokalp was born in Ankara, Turkey. He moved to Sydney in 2009 and is now part of an artist run initiative Project 504, working from his studio in North Sydney. Jimmy Donegan (born around 1940) is an Aboriginal Australian artist. His painting ''Papa Tjukurpa munu Pukara'' won the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award in 2010. He speaks Pitjantjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra. His work is held in several major private galleries in Australia and Europe; the only major public gallery to hold one of his works is the National Gallery of Victoria.
