Blues Train
The Blues Train was founded by Hugo T. Armstrong in 1994 and is operated in partnership with Bay City Events and the Bellarine Railway as an homage to the history of the blues musicians playing on the Mississippi freight trains. The Blues Train travels along 16 km of railway between the towns of Queenscliff, Victoria, Queenscliff and Drysdale railway station, Drysdale with an intermediate stop at Suma Park, on the Bellarine Peninsula and the performers rotate. History The Blues Train began operating in 1993 with one or two services a year and now operates approximately forty times a year on Saturday evenings between August and occasional Fridays in December. The Blues Train has hosted a range of blues acts including Chris Wilson (Australian musician), Jimi Hocking, Claude Hay, Ezra Lee (musician) and others. Claude Hay
Claude Hay is a songwriter, singer and multi instrumentalist from Australia. His current main act is the 3 piece rock-groove band Claude Hay and the Kung Fu Mustard. He steered away from the blues scene after the pandemic to go in the direction of rock-groove-funk direction, harking back to his original love of 80's and 90's rock music. Album due out 2024. History For over a decade Claude Hay as known as a solo blues/Folk music, roots. He employed a technique using looping pedals to sample and layer musical phrases using multiple instruments, including guitar, bass, sitar and electronic drums, creating the effect of being an entire band although he is typically the lone performer on his recordings and on stage. Ezra Lee (né Matzenik; 15 October 1986) is an Australian singer-songwriter and pianist. Biography Lee was born on 15 October 1986 in Tamworth, New South Wales. His father, Ed Matzenik, taught him to play piano at the age of four. Lee later used his father's record collection to learn boogie woogie and barrelhouse piano styles. Lee took blues lessons from Dr John and Johnny 'B. Goode' Johnson when they toured Australia, and developed his own piano style within these genres. At age 14, Lee joined Johnny Green's Blues Cowboys and toured with them for six years. James Kevin Hocking (born 7 June 1963) otherwise known as Jimi the Human is an Australian musician. He has been a member of hard rock groups, The Angels (1988) and The Screaming Jets (1994–97, 2010–present). As a solo artist he has fronted various backing bands playing hard rock, electric and acoustic blues by providing lead guitar, vocals, mandolin and keyboards. Queenscliff is a small town on the Bellarine Peninsula in southern Victoria, Australia, south of Swan Bay at the entrance to Port Phillip. Christopher John Wilson (2 December 1956 – 16 January 2019) was an Australian blues musician who sang and played harmonica, saxophone and guitar. He performed as part of the Sole Twisters, Harem Scarem and Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, and fronted his band Crown of Thorns. Wilson's solo albums are ''Landlocked'' (June 1992), ''The Long Weekend'' (March 1998), ''Spiderman'' (2000), ''King for a Day'' (July 2002), ''Flying Fish'' (2012) and the self titled ''Chris Wilson'' (2018).
