Blue Water Cycling
Blue Water Cycling is a Danish road cycling team that was formed in 2009 as a merger between Herning CK and Team Løgstør-Cycling for Health. It is currently a UCI Continental Team, competing on the UCI Europe Tour. For the 2012 season, the team's riders are exclusively Danish. The two most successful members of the team are Rasmus Quaade, who has won Danish national road titles five times (though only once with Blue Water), and Lasse Norman Hansen, who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal in the men's omnium and placing fifth in the team pursuit. The ''Union Cycliste Internationale'' (UCI; ; en, International Cycling Union) is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland. The UCI issues racing licenses to riders and enforces disciplinary rules, such as in matters of doping. The UCI also manages the classification of races and the points ranking system in various cycling disciplines including road and track cycling, mountain biking and BMX, for both men and women, amateur and professional. Cycling At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Omnium
The men's cycling omnium at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place at the London Velopark on 4 and 5 August. Lasse Norman Hansen from Denmark won the gold medal. France's Bryan Coquard won silver and Ed Clancy from Great Britain took bronze. Competition format The omnium competition consisted of six events, with a point-for-place system. Cycling At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The cycling competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place at five venues between 28 July and 12 August. The venues were the London Velopark for track cycling and BMX, and Hadleigh Farm, in Essex, for mountain biking. The road races took place over a course starting and ending in The Mall in central London and heading out into Surrey, while the time trials started and finished at Hampton Court Palace in Richmond upon Thames. Eighteen events were contested and around 500 athletes participated. Cycling events have been contested in every Summer Olympics programme since the first modern Olympiad in 1896 alongside athletics, artistic gymnastics, fencing and swimming. Thomas Riis
Thomas Nybo Riis (born 31 August 1992) is a Danish cyclist. Riis started with competitive cycling in 2010 and in just over a year he rose to compete among the best Danish amateurs in the A Class. In 2011 he took part in the Tour of Denmark as the youngest participant. He took part in the Italian stage race Giro della Lunigiana as a member of an English team. He signed a contract with Team Blue Water Cycling in 2012. Thomas Riis lives in Silkeborg and is the son of Bjarne Riis of his first marriage with Mette Nybo Riis.
