Blue Bus And Coach Services
Blue Bus was a large independent bus company serving Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. History Blue Bus was formed in 1991 by former Shearings managers Roger Jarvis and Alan Turner. It was based at a former railway works in Horwich, six miles to the west of Bolton. The first type of bus to be acquired in bulk was the Leyland Leopard, which were followed by a number of Leyland Atlanteans. It commenced operating its first route in May 1991 between Bolton and Horwich via Chorley New Road in competition with GM Buses. Each of the five services introduced to give this combined frequency served a different estate in Horwich. A 20-minute service along Chorley Old Road from Bolton to the Johnson Fold estate was next to be introduced, followed by a series of routes in Wigan. The first of these ran to Shevington. Blue Bus was a bus operator based in Penwortham, Lancashire. It operated many routes, including services to Preston City Centre. History Blue Bus of Penwortham was formed by Roger Jarvis in early 2006, nine months after Jarvis sold Blue Bus of Bolton to Arriva North West and Wales in July 2005. Buses Magazine September 2005 issue 606 Roger Jarvis also purchased Whittaker's Coach Travel and revived the Blue Bus name from his former Blue Bus of Bolton operation. In June 2009, with Stagecoach having purchased Preston Bus, bus usage of Stagecoach in Preston since the takeover in January had increased with better efficiency and a larger network. Blue Bus of North Lanarkshire, also known as Blue Bus of Shotts or Law of Shotts, is a bus operator primarily serving the area of Shotts, North Lanarkshire in West Scotland. It is a mainly local bus operator, based at Allanton, but is also involved in private coach business. The company was formed from the remnants of the bankrupted HAD Coaches. Willington is a village and civil parish in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. The 2001 Census recorded a parish population of 2,604, increasing to 2,864 at the 2011 Census. Geography Willington is on the River Trent about southwest of Derby. The parish is within of the Staffordshire county boundary and the village is about northeast of Burton upon Trent. Busways Travel Services was a bus company, which operated local and regional bus services in Tyne and Wear, England. The company was purchased by the Stagecoach Group in July 1994. History In October 1986, to comply with the Transport Act 1985, the assets of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive were transferred to a new legal entity, known as Busways Travel Services. In May 1989, the company was sold to its employees in an Employee stock ownership, employee share ownership plan – with management owning 51% of shares and employees owning 49%. The "Blue Bus" lines were a group of four affiliated privately held company, privately owned public transportation companies that provided Public transport bus service, bus transit service in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area in the 1950s and 1960s.
