Bloomington High School is a high school in unincorporated Bloomington, California, near Riverside, Rialto, San Bernardino, and Fontana. History The school was established in 1962 for a student population of 900. As of 2006, the number of students was around 3000. It belongs to the Colton Joint Unified School District. The school mascot is a Bruin which is a type of young bear. A new football field was purchased in 2003–04. The school has put in new Math and Science wings and has been open since 10 October 2011. Bloomington, California
Bloomington is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 23,851 at the 2010 census, up from 19,318 at the 2000 census. Though currently unincorporated, many of the town's political activists are pushing for Bloomington to attain cityhood, while the nearby cities of Rialto and Fontana are attempting to annex the community. The incorporation effort is led by the Bloomington Incorporation Committee. History Bloomington was originally developed as part of the land holdings of the Semi-Tropic Land and Water Company, which was formed in 1887. In 1907, the Riverside Portland Cement Company built a large plant near the Crestmore Quarries (South Bloomington), and to provide transportation for employees built a standard gauge railroad to Riverside. The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the U.S. state of California. CIF membership includes both public and private high schools. Unlike most other state organizations, it does not have a single, statewide championships for all sports; instead, for some sports, the CIF's 10 Sections each have their own championships. The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section (CIF-SS) is the governing body for high school athletics in most of Southern California and is the largest of the ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Its membership includes most public and private high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and central and southern Santa Barbara counties. At the start of the 2018/9 season, 13 schools from San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County left the Southern Section to join the much smaller CIF Central Section. The Sunkist League is a high school athletic league that is part of the CIF Southern Section. Members are located in western San Bernardino County. The Sunkist League is now a part of the Arrowhead Athletic Conference. The conference has 3 leagues, San Andreas League, Sunkist League, and Skyline League. All 15 schools for boys and girls sports can move freely through the 3 leagues through means of competitive balance. Fontana is a city in San Bernardino County, California. Founded by Azariel Blanchard Miller in 1913, it remained essentially rural until World War II, when entrepreneur Henry J. Kaiser built a large steel mill in the area.
