San Bernardino (; Spanish for "Saint Bernardino") is a city and county seat of San Bernardino County, California, United States. Located in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, the city had a population of 222,101 in the 2020 census, making it the 18th-largest city in California. Helen Tran is an American politician and the mayor of San Bernardino, California. Tran was elected in the 2022 San Bernardino mayoral election and is the city's first Asian American mayor. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It encompasses much of the southeastern and southernmost portions of California.
