''BloodStorm'' is a 1994 arcade fighting game published by Strata and developed by Incredible Technologies. It is considered a quasi-sequel to '' Time Killers''. ''BloodStorm'' was dubbed as a possible "'' Mortal Kombat''-killer" in an attempt to surpass rival Midway Games's success with ''Mortal Kombat'', though it did not prevail. It was the last game Strata produced before the company went out of business. Home ports for the Saturn and PlayStation were announced in early 1995, but were later cancelled. ''Time Killers'' is a 1992 weapon-based fighting game, fighting arcade game developed by Incredible Technologies and published by Strata. Along with Allumer's ''Blandia'', ''Time Killers'' is one of the earliest weapon-based fighting games modeled after Capcom's ''Street Fighter II'' (1991). It was later overshadowed by the success of SNK's 1993 weapon-based fighting game, ''Samurai Shodown''. In ''Time Killers'', eight warriors from different periods in history face off with each other, and then Death, for a chance at immortality. A home port for the Sega Genesis was released four years after the arcade version, after having been delayed and even cancelled for a time. It was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews. Christian H. "Chris" Oberth (died July 16, 2012) was a game programmer who created early titles for the Apple II family of personal computers, handheld electronic games for Milton Bradley, and games for coin-operated arcade machines published in the early 1980s. Though not a hit in arcades, Oberth's 1982 ''Anteater'' for Stern Electronics was an influential concept, cloned by a number of developers for 8-bit home computers, including Sierra On-Line as ''Oil's Well''. ''Mortal Kombat'' is an American media franchise centered on a series of video games originally developed by Midway Games in 1992. The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but when that idea fell through, a science fantasy-themed fighting game was created instead.
