Blake Dermott
Blake Dermott (born September 10, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a former professional Canadian football offensive lineman who played fourteen seasons in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos, and was named the team's Top Lineman in 1988 and 1990 and CFL All-Star in 1989 and 1994. Dermott played in 5 Grey Cups and was a part of 2 Grey Cup championship teams in 1987 and 1993. Blake currently sits in 5th place all time for most games played for the Eskimos, and was the only player in Eskimo history to start a game in every position on the Offensive Line. Dermott played CIS football for the Alberta Golden Bears and won a gold medal at the 1982 CIS Wrestling Championships for the University of Alberta. CIS Football
U Sports football is the highest level of amateur play of Canadian football and operates under the auspices of U Sports (formerly Canadian Interuniversity Sport). Twenty-seven teams from Canadian universities are divided into four athletic conferences, drawing from the four regional associations of U Sports: Canada West Universities Athletic Association, Ontario University Athletics, Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, and Atlantic University Sport. CHED (630 AM) is a radio station licensed to Edmonton, Alberta. Owned by Corus Entertainment, it broadcasts a news/talk format, and first signed on in 1954. Its studios are located on 84th Street in Edmonton, while its transmitters are located in Southeast Edmonton. CHED is the flagship station of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, and broadcasts ''Oilers Now'', a daily talk show hosted by the team's radio colour analyst Bob Stauffer. The Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas are the sports teams that represent the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Alberta athletics teams have won a total of 93 national championships, including 79 U Sports sanctioned sports, making it one of the most successful programs in the country. History The University of Alberta has featured varsity teams since the school's inception in 1908, notably with the men's ice hockey team first playing a season of six games during that school year.
