Blairmore House
Blairmore School was an independent boarding preparatory school in Glass near Huntly, Aberdeenshire until its closure in 1993. The site is now owned and used by a Christian organisation called Ellel Ministries International as a prayer, training and healing retreat centre. History Blairmore School was established in 1947 as an independent prep school for boys aged 8–13 by Colonel D.R. Ainslie D.S.O., B.A., a keen educationalist, Cambridge graduate and retired Seaforth Highlander. The school turned co-ed in 1975 and closed in 1993. Blairmore had its own tartan. David Michael Barclay Sole (born 8 May 1962) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1993 New Year Honours. Rugby Union career Amateur career He was educated at Blairmore prep school and Glenalmond College, a private school in Perthshire. He went to Exeter University and played for their rugby side. He played for Bath and then moved to play for Edinburgh Academicals. Provincial career He played for Scottish Exiles (then Anglo-Scots) in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. Rannoch School was an independent boarding school, located on the south shore of Loch Rannoch in Perth and Kinross, Scotland on the Dall Estate, from Kinloch Rannoch. Dall House served as the main school building and a boarding house. It was established by three masters from Gordonstoun School and opened on 24 September 1959 with 82 boys. The school's ethos was enshrined in its principle of "in pursuit of all round excellence" based on the philosophies of Kurt Hahn. Cademuir International School
Cademuir International School was a specialist school at Moniaive in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The school, founded by Robert Mulvey in 1990, was created to serve high ability learners and underachievers with high potential. Latterly based at Crawfordton House, Moniaive, a listed building, it previously operated from near Peebles. In 2002, the school was ranked second of 418 schools in Scotland for Higher Grade results. Following controversial stories in the tabloid press, in 2004, an HMI report criticised the school, "particularly in the care and welfare areas of child protection, vetting of staff and restraint". A follow-up inspection criticised a "lack of stable and effective strategic leadership" on 13 September 2005. In September 2006 the school went out of business due to financial difficulties.
