Black Point, California
Black Point-Green Point is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marin County, California, United States. It is unincorporated, sitting between the city of Novato to the southwest and the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay to the northeast. The population was 1,431 at the 2020 census. History Black Point was part of the Rancho de Novato land grant. The ''1880 History of Marin County'' by Alley, Bowen and Co. mentions "a man by name of Day" who "settled on an island in Novato township which has since borne his name" in 1851. This island is still known as Day Island. According to the book, several more settlers moved into the area in 1853. Some of them owned land there, while others were squatters, a problem common across the county. Lumber that came from Black Point was used to build part of the USS ''Saginaw'', a steamer built at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Black Point is an estate on the south shore of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin, United States, built in 1888 as a summer home by Conrad Seipp, a beer tycoon from Chicago. It has also been known as Conrad and Catherine Seipp Summer House and as Die Loreley The Queen Anne style mansion features a nautical-themed, four-story, "crow's nest" observation tower, which can be seen from many points on the lake; the property also features post-civil war-era furniture. Black Point Power Station () is a gas-fired power station in Lung Kwu Tan, New Territories, Hong Kong. The power station is operated by CLP Group. History In the late 1980s, China Light and Power (CLP) examined several potential sites for the construction of a new power station. The company came to favour Fan Lau in southern Lantau Island, but this was rejected by the government for environmental reasons, particularly the effects the station would have on Lantau South Country Park. On 20 August 1990, the company announced that it had instead proposed to the government to build the station at Black Point. The original eight GE 9FA combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units (C1 to C8) of the power station were commissioned in stages between 1996 and 2006.
