Black Lightning (Jeff Pierce) is a superhero who appears in American comic book published by DC Comics. The character, created by writer Tony Isabella with artist Trevor Von Eeden, first appeared in ''Black Lightning'' #1 (April 1977), during the Bronze Age of Comic Books. Although his precise origin story has varied over the years, he is generally depicted as a metahuman superhero who uses the ability to generate and control electricity to defend his community – and the world – as Black Lightning. Although not the first black superhero to be featured in DC Comics stories, Black Lightning was DC's first African Americans, African-American superhero to headline his own series. Clayton Henry
Clayton Henry is a comic book artist, known mostly for his work for Marvel Comics. His first known works were providing the art on ''Nine Rings Of Wu-Tang'' and ''Area 52'', and has since worked on such series as '' Exiles'', ''Alpha Flight'', '' New X-Men: Hellions'', '' X-Men: Apocalypse vs. Dracula'', and currently ''Uncanny X-Men''. Early life Born in Mandeville, Jamaica, Henry moved to the U.S. when he was three. His father, an artist himself amazed Clayton with a picture of a car he saw him draw. He began drawing at 4 and at age 9 he was drawn into the world of comics with a copy of ''Uncanny X-Men'' #201. He attended art schools from 4th grade through 12th grade and much of college. ''Comic Book Resources'', also known by the initialism CBR, is a website dedicated to the coverage of comic book–related news and discussion. History Comic Book Resources was founded by Jonah Weiland in 1995 as a development of the Kingdom Come Message Board, a message forum that Weiland created to discuss DC Comics' then-new mini-series of the same name. DC Implosion
The "DC Explosion" and "DC Implosion" were two events in 1978 – the first an official marketing campaign, the second a sardonic reference to it – in which DC Comics expanded their roster of publications, then abruptly cut it back. The DC Explosion was part of an ongoing initiative at DC to regain market share by increasing the number of titles they published, while also increasing page counts and cover prices. The so-called "DC Implosion" was the result of the publisher experiencing losses that year due to a confluence of factors, and cancelling a large number of ongoing and planned series in response. The cancellations included long-running series such as ''Our Fighting Forces'', ''Showcase'', and '' House of Secrets''; new series introduced as part of the expansion such as ''Firestorm'' and '' Steel: The Indestructible Man''; and announced series such as '' The Vixen'' which would have been the company's first title starring an African-American woman. Luke Cage
Lucas "Luke" Cage, born Carl Lucas and also known as Power Man, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He first appeared in ''Luke Cage, Hero for Hire'' #1 (June 1972) and was created by Archie Goodwin, George Tuska, Roy Thomas, and John Romita Sr. He is one of the earliest black superheroes to be featured as the protagonist and title character of a Marvel comic book. Created during the height of the blaxploitation genre, Luke Cage had been imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and gained the powers of superhuman strength and unbreakable skin after being subjected voluntarily to an experimental procedure. Once freed, he becomes a " hero for hire" and has forty-nine issues of solo adventures (comic title renamed to ''Luke Cage, Power Man'' with issue #17).
