Black (Sevendust Song)
"Black" is the debut single by Sevendust and lead single from their self-titled debut album. "Black" is one of Sevendust's most successful songs and was included on their '' Best Of (Chapter One 1997–2004)''. Live, acoustic versions were also included on the ''Seasons'' limited edition DVD and the band's first live album, '' Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live'', in 2004. "Black" is on the ''Swimfan'' soundtrack and video game ''Test Drive Off-Road 2''. It was the opening song for almost every Sevendust concert until 2004. "Black" is ranked No. 47 in Hit Parader's 100 heavy metal top songs all-time. Recording Sevendust tried to pull "Black" off of the band's self-titled debut album before recording the song. Sevendust
Sevendust is an American rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and rhythm guitarist John Connolly. After their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and lead guitarist Clint Lowery joined the group. Following a few name changes, the members settled on the name Sevendust and released their Sevendust (album), self-titled debut album on April 15, 1997, which sold only 310 copies in its first week but ultimately achieved gold certification through touring and support from their label, TVT Records. Since formation, Sevendust have attained success with three consecutive RIAA gold-certified albums, a Grammy nomination, and have sold millions of records worldwide. Seasons (Sevendust Album)
''Seasons'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Sevendust. It would be the band's final album with TVT Records and was dedicated to the memory to both Dave Williams ( Drowning Pool's original singer) who died of cardiomyopathy in August 2002, and Reginald Witherspoon (Lajon Witherspoon's younger brother) who was murdered in November 2002. ''Seasons'' was, for a time, the band's last album with Clint Lowery as he left in 2004. Lowery would return to Sevendust in March 2008. A limited edition of ''Seasons'' was released. This includes a DVD featuring "Black" (live and acoustic) and other special features. Recording and production In an unusual choice, Butch Walker was chosen to produce the band's fourth album. Although Walker had produced some demos for the band in their early years as Crawlspace, he had a largely pop-oriented résumé. ''Animosity'' is the third studio album by American rock band Sevendust, released on November 13, 2001 through TVT Records. The album appeared on the ''Billboard'' 200, remained there for thirteen weeks and peaked at No. 28 on December 1, 2001. ''Animosity'' was certified gold on March 11, 2002 through the Recording Industry Association of America. Sevendust released five variations of the album. Two variations were released in the United States with thirteen tracks, one version with explicit lyrics and the other with censored lyrics. Another explicit lyric version was released in the United States with a bonus track, and another censored version was released with two bonus tracks. The China release featured fifteen tracks. The album appeared on the ''Billboard'' 200, remained there for fourteen weeks and peaked at 19 on September 11, 1999.
