Willebroek (, old spelling: ''Willebroeck'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of , Heindonk, , Klein Willebroek, and Willebroek proper. In 2021, Willebroek had a total population of 27,081. The total area is 27.41 km². Willebroek is linked to Brussels by the Willebroek Canal. Willebroek is also home to the ''Kanaalfeesten'', a yearly festival that takes place throughout the town which includes live concerts (mostly of local bands) and general festival attractions, like a mini roller coaster, a duck shoot, etc. At Klein-Willebroek the Harmonium Art museuM on pump organs is established in the former Church of the Immaculate Conception. Heindonk
Heindonk is a Belgian village in the municipality of Willebroek in the province of Antwerp in Belgium. It is situated northwest of the city of Mechelen. History Historically the village was a part of the parish of Zemst. In 1603, it became part of Heffen. In 1803, the village became an independent municipality. In 1977, the municipality was merged into Willebroek. Overview In Heindonk is the Hazewinkel, a 2,000 m rowing and regatta course, where many World Championships Rowing took place. Apart from the Hazewinkel Heindonk is surrounded by water and nature. The rivers Zenne coming from Brussels, Dyle coming from Louvain, Nete coming from Lier and the channel Louvain-Dyle all come together north of Heindonk, forming the river Rupel. The Arrondissement of Mechelen ( nl, Arrondissement Mechelen; french: Arrondissement de Malines) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Province of Antwerp, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement, as the territory for both coincides. History The Arrondissement of Mechelen was created in 1800 as the third arrondissement in the Department of Deux-Nèthes ( nl, Departement Twee Nethen). Wannes Van De Velde
Wannes Van de Velde (29 April 1937 – 10 November 2008), born Willy Cecile Johannes Van de Velde, in Antwerp, was a Flemish folk singer, guitarist, musician, poet, puppeteer and artist. He is most famous for his songs ''Ik Wil deze Nacht in de Straten Verdwalen'' (1973), ''Mijn Mansarde'' and ''De Brug van Willebroek'' (1990). His work is often categorized as kleinkunst. Van de Velde was known for singing in his local dialect. Biography His father, Jaak Van de Velde, was a metal worker and talented singer, his mother a housewife and singer. He grew up in the Zirkstraat, near the Antwerp Red Light district. At home the young boy was always surrounded by music. His song "Ik Wil Deze Nacht in De Straten Verdwalen" was written for the film ''Home Sweet Home'' by Benoît Lamy. In 1997 he received the Arkprijs van het Vrije Woord. Puurs () is a former municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It is located in the Flemish Region. The municipality comprised the towns of Breendonk, Liezele, , Ruisbroek (old spelling: ''Ruysbroeck'') and Puurs proper. There is also the hamlet of Kalfort. Kapelle-op-den-Bos () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Kapelle-op-den-Bos proper, Nieuwenrode and Ramsdonk.
