Bjelke-Petersen Ministry
The Bjelke-Petersen Ministry was a ministry of the Government of Queensland and was led by Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen, who led the Country Party and its successor, the National Party. It succeeded the Chalk Ministry on 8 August 1968 as part of a series of events following the death of former Premier Jack Pizzey on 31 July. It was succeeded by the Ahern Ministry on 1 December 1987 following Bjelke-Petersen's resignation as Premier. The Ministry
In constitutional usage in Commonwealth realms, a ministry (usually preceded by the definite article, i.e., the ministry) is a collective body of government ministers led by a head of government, such as a prime minister. It is described by Oxford Dictionaries as "a period of government under one prime minister". Although the term "cabinet" can in some circumstances be a synonym, a ministry can be a broader concept which might include office-holders who do not participate in cabinet meetings. Douglas Tooth
Sir Seymour Douglas Tooth (28 January 1904 — 3 July 1982) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Politics Tooth was unsuccessful in contesting the 1956 election in the electoral district of Kelvin Grove as the candidate for the Liberal Party. He was defeated by the sitting Labor member, Bert Turner who had held the seat since 1941. Tooth was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in Kelvin Grove at the 1957 election, defeating Turner. John Row (Australian Politician)
Sir John Alfred Row KBE (1 January 1905 – 15 May 1993) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Row was born at Ingham, Queensland, the son of Charles Edward Row and his wife Emily Harriett (née Weller). He was educated at Trebonne State School, before heading to Toowoomba where he attended Toowoomba East State School and then the Toowoomba Grammar School. After leaving school he purchased a cane farm at Trebonne in 1924 and worked it until 1960. On 19 November 1929 he married Gladys Mary Hollins and together had a daughter. Gladys died in 1952 and Row then married Irene Gough on 31 July 1966. He died at Ingham in May 1993. Public career Row started in politics as a councillor on the Hinchinbrook Shire Council from 1952 until 1963. He first attempted to enter state politics at the 1957 Queensland state election in the seat of Hinchinbrook but was beaten by the Labor candidate and sitting member, Cecil Jesson.
