Douglas Tooth
Sir Seymour Douglas Tooth (28 January 1904 — 3 July 1982) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Politics Tooth was unsuccessful in contesting the 1956 election in the electoral district of Kelvin Grove as the candidate for the Liberal Party. He was defeated by the sitting Labor member, Bert Turner who had held the seat since 1941. Tooth was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in Kelvin Grove at the 1957 election, defeating Turner. Tooth held Kelvin Grove until 1960, at which that electorate was abolished being largely replaced by the new electoral district of Ashgrove Ashgrove was a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral district in the state of Queensland, Australia from 1960 to 2017. The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. As provided under the Constitution of Queensland, the Parliament consists of the Monarch of Australia and the Legislative Assembly. It has been the only unicameral state legislature in the country since the upper chamber, the Legislative Council, was abolished in 1922. The Legislative Assembly sits in Parliament House in the state capital, Brisbane. Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 7 December 1974 to elect the 82 members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The National-Liberal Coalition won a third consecutive victory under Joh Bjelke-Petersen, and the seventh consecutive victory for the National Party in Queensland, which had renamed itself from the Country Party since the previous election. The Labor Party lost two-thirds of its seats, including that of leader Perc Tucker—its worst showing in an election until 2012. Labor was reduced to only 11 seats, leading observers to call Labor's caucus a "cricket team." Electoral District Of Ashgrove
Ashgrove was a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral district in the state of Queensland, Australia from 1960 to 2017. It was located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, encompassing Alderley, Ashgrove, Enoggera, The Gap and Newmarket. The electorate also contained the Enoggera Army Barracks and the Enoggera Reservoir, a state forest. In the 2012 state election LNP leader Campbell Newman won the seat, and following his party's success in that election became Premier. In the 2015 election, Kate Jones, who had held the seat for Labor from 2006 to 2012, reclaimed the seat. In losing his seat and the Premiership, Newman became just the second Premier in Queensland history to be defeated in his electorate. Ashgrove was abolished in the 2017 electoral redistribution, mostly being replaced by Cooper. 1960 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 28 May 1960 to elect the 78 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election followed the enactment of the ''Electoral Districts Act 1958'' which increased the Assembly from 75 to 78 seats and modified the zonal system first established by Labor ahead of the 1950 election. The major parties contesting the election were the Country Party led by Premier Frank Nicklin, the Liberal Party led by Kenneth Morris, the Labor Party led by Jack Duggan and the Queensland Labor Party led by Vince Gair. The Country and Liberal parties had formed a coalition. The Country-Liberal coalition won a second term in office at the election, although the Labor Party recovered 5 seats and 11% of its vote from the 1957 election.
