Bjarne Solberg
Bjarne Solberg (6 May 1877 – 16 January 1928) was a Norwegian physician and politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Kristiania. He finished his secondary education in 1895, and graduated as cand.med. in 1903. He was hired as municipal physician in Heddal and Notodden in 1907, and was town physician in Notodden from 1918 to 1926. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Heddal
Heddal is a village and parish in Notodden municipality in Telemark County, Norway. History The parish of ''Hitterdal'' was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Notodden was separated from Heddal both as a city and a municipality of its own, in 1913. Heddal was subsequently merged with Notodden January 1, 1964. The Heddal clerical district consists of two parishes: Hitterdal and Lisleherad. Etymology The Old Norse form of the name was ''Heitrardalr''. The first element is the genitive case of a former name of the River ''Heitr'', now known as Heddøla, a tributary of the Skien River. The last element is ''dalr'' meaning dale or valley. The original meaning of the river name is unknown. Until 1918 the name was written ''Hitterdal'' or ''Hiterdal''. From 1918 on, the name has been ''Heddal''. Notodden
Notodden () is a List of towns and cities in Norway, city and List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestfold og Telemark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional region of Øst-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Notodden. Notodden was separated from the municipality of Heddal in 1913 to become a separate city and municipality. On 1 January 1964, the rural municipalities of Heddal and Gransherad were merged into Notodden to form a new enlarged municipality. Notodden is on the shore of Heddalsvatnet lake, and the Tinnelva, Tinn River runs through the town into the lake. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. The Market towns of Telemark and Aust-Agder counties ( no, Kjøpstedene i Telemark og Aust-Agder fylker) was an electoral district for parliamentary elections in Norway. It comprised the market towns ( no, kjøpsteder) of Brevik, Kragerø, Notodden, Porsgrunn and Skien in Telemark county and Arendal, Grimstad and Risør in Aust-Agder county. The district was established ahead of the 1921 Norwegian parliamentary election following the change from single member constituencies to plural member constituencies in 1919. Following changes in the national policy on market towns in 1952, these electoral districts were abolished ahead of the 1953 Norwegian parliamentary election. Instead, each county became one electoral district, and for election purposes the towns were integrated into their respective counties. Peter Johan Støren (13 May 1859 – 5 December 1925) was a Norwegian operating manager and politician. Støren was born in Spydeberg to parish priest Abraham Wilhelm Støren and Lagertha Johanne Dircks . He was operating manager of the Telemark Canal from 1902.
