Bitti
Bitti ( sc, Bitzi) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, about north of Cagliari and about north of Nuoro. Bitti borders the municipalities of Alà dei Sardi, Buddusò, Lodè, Lula, Nule, Onanì, Orune, Osidda, and Padru. History The commune takes its name from the Sardinian ''bitta'' (female deer). Already existing in Roman times, it is mentioned in 1170 as ''Bitthe''. Bitti was a provincial capital of the Giudicato of Gallura and, from the 14th century, was part of the Giudicato of Torres. It was later included in the marquisate of Orani. Bitti ( sc, Bitzi) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, about north of Cagliari and about north of Nuoro. Bitti borders the municipalities of Alà dei Sardi, Buddusò, Lodè, Lula, Nule, Onanì, Orune, Osidda, and Padru. History The commune takes its name from the Sardinian ''bitta'' (female deer). Su Romanzesu
Su Romanzesu is an archaeological site that is located near Bitti, Nuoro Province, Sardinia Sardinia ( ; it, Sardegna, label=Italian, Corsican and Tabarchino ; sc, Sardigna , sdc, Sardhigna; french: Sardaigne; sdn, Saldigna; ca, Sardenya, label=Algherese and Catalan) is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after .... It consists of a Bronze Age nuragic village of more than seven hectares. The site includes a holy well, one hundred huts, two megaron temples, a rectangular temple, an elliptical amphitheater, and a large labyrinth structure. The name Su Romanzesu derives from the presence of Roman remains. During the 2nd-3rd centuries AD, the area was occupied by the Romans.
