Bishan (), also known as either Bishan New Town or Bishan Town, is a planning area and matured residential town located at the northernmost portion of the Central Region of Singapore. Statistically, the area is ranked the 38th biggest in terms of geographical size and the 22nd most populated planning area in the country. It is located at the most Central point of Singapore, and it comprises Upper Thomson, Marymount, Shunfu, Sin Ming, Bishan North and Bishan East. There are also many private residential properties in Bishan. Bishan is ranked 15th in terms of population density. Apart from its boundary with the Central Water Catchment in the west, Bishan borders three other planning areas: Ang Mo Kio to the north, Toa Payoh to the south, and Serangoon to the east. Bishan railway station is a railway station of Chengdu–Chongqing intercity railway located in Qinggang Subdistrict, Bishan District, Chongqing, China. Construction began on 29 December 2013. Bishan Narayan Dar
Pandit Bishan Narayan Dar (1864 – 19 November 1916) was an Indian politician who served as the President of the Indian National Congress for one term in 1911. Dar belonged to a prominent Kashmiri Pandit family from Lucknow. His uncle Pandit Shambhu Nath was the first Indian Judge of the Calcutta High Court. Dar studied at the Church Mission High School and Canning College in Lahore. Dar went to England where he practised as a lawyer. After his return to India, he joined the Indian National Congress in 1887. Bishan Singh Bedi (; born 25 September 1946) is a former Indian cricketer who was primarily a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979 and formed part of the famous Indian spin quartet. He played a total of 67 Tests and took 266 wickets. He also captained the national side in 22 Test matches. Bedi wore a colourful patka and has voiced outspoken and forthright views on cricketing matters. He was awarded the Padma Shri award in 1970. Bishan Singh s/o Ram Singh ( pa, ਬਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ, Biśana sigha; May 31, 1944 - November 29, 2006) was a Malaysian social activist and environmentalist. Bishan Singh was the grandson of Ram Singh I and was ruler of Amer, and head of the Kachwaha Rajput Clan. He was also the subahdar of Assam from 1687 to 1695. Accession On the death of his grandfather Ramsingh I, the 16-year-old Bishan Singh returned to Amer with his Kachwaha clansmen.
