''Birth of the Dragon'' is a 2016 American martial arts action film directed by George Nolfi and written by Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele. The film stars Philip Ng, Xia Yu, and Billy Magnussen. The film is a fictional account on the supposedly true story revolving around the young martial artist Bruce Lee, who challenged kung fu master Wong Jack-man in 1965 in San Francisco. Principal photography began in Vancouver, Canada on November 17, 2015. George Nolfi
George Nolfi (born June 10, 1968) is an American filmmaker. He made his directorial debut in 2011 with sci-fi action, romance thriller, ''The Adjustment Bureau'' starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. Nolfi's work has been known to blend genres and employ tones ranging from serious to comedic. His stories often have protagonists who are exceptional at what they do; touch on central themes of philosophy, the human condition or world politics; and convey some form of social commentary. Early life Nolfi was born in Boston. The one-inch punch is a punching exercise from Chinese martial arts performed at a range of . The one-inch punch was popularized by actor and martial artist Bruce Lee. It is purported to improve punching power and technique. History The one-inch punch is present in various styles of Southern Chinese martial arts. The Long Beach International Karate Championships is an International karate and martial arts tournament in Long Beach, California that was first held in August 1964 by Kenpo Grandmaster Ed Parker.
