Birmingham East And North Primary Care Trust
NHS Birmingham East and North was an NHS primary care trust (PCT) that was formed on 1 October 2006 following the merger of Eastern Birmingham PCT and North Birmingham PCT. PCTs were abolished in April 2013. NHS Birmingham East and North primary care trust provided primary care, intermediate care and community services on behalf of 440,000 people living in the east and north of Britain's second city. It was one of three primary care trusts that covered Birmingham. Following the Health and Social Care Act of 2012, the PCT was dissolved and NHS Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group become the largest commissioner of healthcare in the area. The trust commissioned services from GPs, dentists, pharmacists, opticians, and voluntary sector organisations. NHS Primary Care Trust
Primary care trusts (PCTs) were part of the National Health Service in England from 2001 to 2013. PCTs were largely administrative bodies, responsible for commissioning primary, community and secondary health services from providers. Until 31 May 2011, they also provided community health services directly. Collectively PCTs were responsible for spending around 80 per cent of the total NHS budget. Primary care trusts were abolished on 31 March 2013 as part of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, with their work taken over by clinical commissioning groups. Stechford and Yardley North is one of the 40 electoral wards in Birmingham, England. Stechford and Yardley North is one of the four wards that make up the council constituency of Yardley. It covers an area of 4.4 square kilometres. East Yardley, part of Garretts Green, Glebe Farm, Old Yardley Village, Poolway, Stechford including Stechford Village and Whittington Oval Estate are areas all covered by the ward.
