Birkenhead Park Cricket Club
Birkenhead Park Cricket Club is a cricket club based in Birkenhead Park in the Wirral on Merseyside, England. The club was founded in 1846 and has one of the oldest cricket pavilions in the country. They are currently members of the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition. The club runs four senior Saturday teams as well as junior sides at U11, U13, U16 and U21 age groups. Their 1st and 2nd XI play on the front pitch with the 3rd XI competing on the back pitch which is commonly known as Cannon Hill. Birkenhead (; cy, Penbedw) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England; Historic counties of England, historically, it was part of Cheshire until 1974. Oxton Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club based at Townfield Lane, Oxton on the Wirral. The Oxton Cricket Club was formed in 1875 after a meeting of gentlemen on 27 September 1875 at the Queens Arm’s Hotel. The gentlemen proposed that a cricket club be formed at Oxton and that a committee be appointed. The club's first team plays in the Cheshire County Cricket League, which is one of the ECB Premier Leagues that are the highest level of the amateur, recreational sport in England and Wales. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Birkenhead Park School is a co-educational 11–16 secondary school with academy status near Birkenhead Park, in Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula in England. It was renamed University Academy Birkenhead in 2011 from the merger of Park High School and Rock Ferry High School and was based at the former Park High School site. It was a Grammar School (Park High Grammar School for Girls ) from 1926 to 1971, then went Co Educational in 1971 and was then just called Park High School. Sefton Park Cricket Club in south Liverpool, England was formed as Sefton Cricket Club in 1860. As well as being used for Sefton's senior, women's and junior teams' home fixtures, the club hosts Lancashire age group and junior sides, Liverpool City junior representative games, University of Liverpool cricket and Last Man Stands.
