Binocular (album)
''Binocular'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Kevin Rudolf, who, at the time, along with another mixer, used the pseudonym ''Binocular'' when the album was released. It was released on May 22, 2001. Background In the early 2000s, Rudolf began work on the group of songs that, nine months later, would form the basis for his major label debut. Written, produced and engineered by Rudolf himself, and mixed by Mark Saunders, the album took nine months to complete. Rudolf was signed to Madonna's record label, Maverick, which released the album under the pseudonym, ''Binocular''. A song from the album, "You", was used in the TV show '' Smallville'' (2001), and a song not appearing on the album, "Maybe You're Gone" (written by Danny Scherr), was later used over the end credits of the movie '' The Girl Next Door'' (2004). Kevin Winston Rudolf (born February 17, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist from New York City, New York. He is best known for his 2008 single " Let It Rock". Early life Kevin Winston Rudolf was born on February 17, 1983, in New York City, New York, to Ellyn, an American singer, and Stephen, a disc jockey originally from the United Kingdom and of English extraction. He grew up an only child on the Upper East Side, his parents divorcing while he was still very young. Rudolf has said that his first musical memory is of listening to the Van Halen song "Jump", while jumping around the apartment in which he grew up. His skills on the instrument improved rapidly. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or " guitar pop rock". Neo-psychedelia
Neo-psychedelia is a diverse genre of psychedelic music that draws inspiration from the sounds of 1960s psychedelia, either updating or copying the approaches from that era. Originating in the 1970s, it has occasionally seen mainstream pop success but is typically explored within alternative rock scenes. It initially developed as an outgrowth of the British post-punk scene, where it was also known as acid punk. Maverick was an American entertainment company founded in 1992 by Madonna, Frederick DeMann, and Veronica "Ronnie" Dashev, and formerly owned and operated by Warner Music Group. It included a record label (Maverick Records), a film production company (Maverick Films), book publishing, music publishing, a Latin record division (Maverick Música), and a television production company. The first releases for the company were Madonna's 1992 coffee table publication '' Sex'' and her studio album ''Erotica'', which were released simultaneously to great controversy as well as success. ''In the City'' is the second studio album by American musician Kevin Rudolf. It was released nationwide, physically and digitally, on November 24, 2008, via Cash Money Records and Universal Republic. Every song on the album was produced and written by Rudolf. "She Can Get It" was a production collaboration between Rudolf and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes. " Let It Rock" was the first single released from the album. The song "NYC" was featured on an episode of ''CSI: NY'' and " Let It Rock" was featured on the '' Melrose Place'' pilot and '' The Hills'' as well as being featured as the theme song for the 2009 WWE Royal Rumble.
