Binay Tamang
Binay Tamang (also spelled Binoy, born 28 December 1965) is an Indian Politician and a former leader of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha political party. He joined All India Trinamool Congress in 2021 and Left party in 2022. Early life Tamang lived and studied in Darjeeling from the very beginning. As a young boy, he was always inspired by the stories of the great Gorkhas of the nation and dreamt of working for the progress of the Gorkhas. He was especially inspired and influenced by the movement and vision of GNLF and hence, became an active member of GNLF in 1986. This was one act that was to change his life forever and set him on a momentous journey towards the leadership of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha
The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) is a registered unrecognized political party, that campaigns for the creation of a separate state Gorkhaland within India, out of districts in the north of West Bengal. The party was launched on 7 October 2007. The faction led by Binay Tamang, which was created out of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in 2017, merged into Gurung's GJM in 2021 after Tamang's resignation, following which he joined Trinamool Congress. History Bimal Gurung, a former GNLF councillor of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, fell out with Subhash Ghisingh for "opposing the Sixth Schedule status for the hills and for his speeches against Subhash Ghisingh, the party president". Kolkata TV is a 24-hour Bengali news channel launched by SST Media in 2006. Ex ABP man Suman Chattopadhyay is responsible for its birth. Now it is owned by Kaustuv Ray, chairman of RP Group. The slogan used by the channel is ''Raatdin Saatdin'' (which means "Day-night 7-days"). The news channel is run by Calcutta-based RP Techvision (I) Pvt Ltd and known for its critical stance on Modi government, while being sympathetic towards TMC. It was taken over in 2009 without buying any shares by Kaustuv Ray, the current editor of Kolkata TV. He had been the subject of raids by the Enforcement Directorate in 2018 and was arrested by CBI for allegedly defrauding banks to the tune of Rs. 515 crores. 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021. Morarji Ranchhodji Desai (29 February 1896 – 10 April 1995) was an Indian independence activist and politician who served as the 4th Prime Minister of India between 1977 to 1979 leading the government formed by the Janata Party.
