Founded in 1897 by George Washington Vanderbilt II, Biltmore Farms has evolved from one of the Southeast's largest independent dairy producer to a community development firm. Biltmore Park Town Square
Biltmore Park Town Square is an upscale new urbanist shopping center opened in mid-2009 in Asheville, North Carolina with its anchors being REI, Regal Cinemas, Barnes & Noble, with many other small shops. It was built as an outdoor "Town Center" with store fronts on the outside. Although the center opened in 2009, the YMCA and some stores began opening as early as 2005. They are still found in this center. Stores like LOFT, Orvis, and Bette can be found here along with a large hotel onsite, the Hilton. Many restaurants are in the center, including P.F. Hendersonville, North Carolina
Hendersonville is a city in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. It is south of Asheville and is the county seat of Henderson County. Like the county, the city is named for 19th-century North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Leonard Henderson. The population was 13,137 at the 2010 census and was estimated in 2019 to be 14,157. Introduction Prior to the Treaty of Hopewell, the land that now is occupied by Hendersonville was settled by Cherokee tribes. Following this treaty, white settlers entered the region, eventually taking the land of what is now Henderson County in full from the original inhabitants. Mills River is a town in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. George Henry Vanderbilt Cecil
George Henry Vanderbilt Cecil (February 27, 1925 – October 19, 2020) was an American businessman who was the owner and chairman of Biltmore Farms. Biography George was the first of two sons born to John Francis Amherst Cecil (1890–1954) and Cornelia Stuyvesant Vanderbilt (1900–1976) and was the grandson of George Washington Vanderbilt II, the founder of the Biltmore Estate. He was educated in Europe, attended the University of Edinburgh, and served in the Royal Navy during World War II. Upon the death of his mother, Cornelia Stuyvesant Vanderbilt, George was given the choice of taking over Biltmore Farms (the family dairy) or the Estate. George Washington Vanderbilt II (November 14, 1862 – March 6, 1914) was an art collector and member of the prominent Vanderbilt family, which amassed a huge fortune through steamboats, railroads, and various business enterprises. Jersey Cattle
The Jersey is a British breed of small dairy cattle from Jersey, in the British Channel Islands. It is one of three Channel Island cattle breeds, the others being the Alderney – now extinct – and the Guernsey. It is highly productive – cows may give over 10 times their own weight in milk per lactation; the milk is high in butterfat and has a characteristic yellowish tinge.
