William Yates (1505 – 1558 or 1559) was an English politician born in Lincoln, England. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Lincoln in 1545. Early life William Yates was born in Lincoln, England, to John and Elizabeth Yates in 1505. It is likely that his family had lived in Lincoln since the early reign of Henry VIII. Political career Yates was elected to his first public position—sheriff of Lincoln—in 1526. He was elected an alderman by 1539 and Mayor of Lincoln for 1539–40 and 1549–50. Floyd Buford Yates (July 5, 1921 – March 26, 2001), better known as Bill Yates, was an American cartoonist who drew gag cartoons and comic strips before assuming the position of comic strip editor for King Features Syndicate in 1978. Biography Born in Samson, Alabama, Yates learned to cartoon by taking the W. L. Evans Correspondence Course, and his first sale was a five dollar first prize in ''The Open Road for Boys'' cartoon contest. He served as an aviator in the United States Navy during World War II, training fighter pilots in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he married Jessie Jean ("Skippy") Hardy. As a journalism student at the University of Texas, he edited the campus humor magazine, ''The Texas Ranger''. William Yates Atkinson (November 11, 1854 – August 8, 1899), was the 55th Governor of Georgia from 1894 to 1898. Early life Atkinson was born in the Oakland community in Meriwether County, Georgia on November 11, 1854. He graduated from the University of Georgia with an LL.B in 1877. William Butler Yeats (13 June 186528 January 1939) was an Irish poet, dramatist, writer and one of the foremost figures of 20th-century literature. He was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival and became a pillar of the Irish literary establishment who helped to found the Abbey Theatre. In his later years he served two terms as a Senator of the Irish Free State. A Protestant of Anglo-Irish descent, Yeats was born in Sandymount and was educated in Dublin and London and spent childhood holidays in County Sligo. He studied poetry from an early age, when he became fascinated by Irish legends and the occult. Content The album's lead single was "I Smell Smoke", but due to several radio stations playing the track "Flowers" instead, Almo Sounds withdrew "I Smell Smoke" and released "Flowers" instead. "Flowers" would peak at number 36 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts in mid-1997. "When the Walls Come Tumblin' Down" was the album's third and final single release. George Jones covered "Choices" on his 1999 album ''Cold Hard Truth''. Critical reception Joel Bernstein of Country Standard Time was favorable toward Yates' voice and the production of Garth Fundis. Billy LaQuayne Yates (born April 15, 1980) is an American football coach and former Guard (American football), offensive guard who is an assistant offensive line coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas A&M Aggies football, Texas A&M and was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2003. William Yates (20 March 1903 – 13 October 1978) was an English footballer and cricketer. Born in Little Lever, a village near Bolton, Lancashire, Yates played professional football as a goalkeeper for Bolton Wanderers and Watford in the Football League, and also represented non-league side Northfleet United. As a cricketer, he was a leg break bowler and wicket-keeper who played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire. He died in Slough at the age of 75. William Yates (15 September 192118 April 2010) was a British Conservative politician and later an Australian Liberal politician. He was one of several to have served in both the UK and Australian parliaments. Early life William Yates was born in 1921, son of William Yates and Mrs. John T. Renshaw of Appleby, Westmorland and educated at Uppingham School and Hertford College, Oxford. Military service He entered the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen's Bays) early in 1942 during the Second World War, and served through the war in North Africa and Italy, gaining rank of captain in 1946. He lost a leg at the knee at the First Battle of El Alamein and became one of the first soldiers given penicillin.
