Billy Edwards (footballer, Born 1895)
William Frank Edwards (24 October 1895 – 4 June 1952) was a Welsh professional footballer who played in the Football League for Newport County and West Ham United as an outside right. He later represented Herefordshire at bowls and won the National Triples title in 1950. Personal life Prior to his service in the First World War, Edwards worked as a motor driver. In July 1915, nearly a year after the outbreak of the First World War, Edwards enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps as an air mechanic 1st class. He was later promoted to the rank of leading aircraftman. After retiring from football, Edwards became a publican in Hereford and along with his brother, he served as a director of Hereford United Hereford United Football Club was an association football club based in Hereford, England. Birmingham Senior Cup
The Birmingham Senior Cup is a football competition for Birmingham County FA club teams, organised by the Birmingham County Football Association. It began in 1876 and is the oldest county cup competition still active. The Birmingham Senior Cup is a regional cup contest, which has featured all of the West Midlands' big clubs, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Burton Albion, Coventry City, Port Vale, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Walsall and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Birmingham Combination
The Birmingham Combination was an English football competition for teams in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, which was active from 1892 until 1954. It was founded as the Birmingham & District Junior League, and changed its name in 1908. The league was also affiliated to the Birmingham County F.A. Winners of the league would have had to have been elected to the Birmingham & District League in order to gain promotion. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. Leading aircraftman (LAC) or leading aircraftwoman (LACW) is a junior rank in some air forces. It sits between aircraftman and senior aircraftman, and has a NATO rank code of OR-2. The rank badge is a horizontal two-bladed propeller. The rank was renamed air specialist (class 2) (AS2) in the Royal Air Force in July 2022.
