Bill Thompson (bishop)
William Avery Thompson (1946–2020) was an American Anglican bishop. A key figure in the Anglican realignment in the United States, he was the longtime rector of All Saints Episcopal Church, which left the Episcopal Church for oversight by the Church of Uganda in 2004. He became a leader in the Common Cause Partnership, which in 2009 emerged as the Anglican Church in North America, and in 2009 was elected the first bishop of the ACNA's Diocese of Western Anglicans. Education and early career Thompson was born in 1946. He was raised in the Episcopal Church at All Saints, Long Beach. In 1966, while a student at Stanford University, Thompson was recommended by All Saints' vestry as a postulant for ordained ministry. After graduating, he received his M.Div. from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 1971 and was ordained to the priesthood. Gene Robinson
Vicky Gene Robinson (born May 29, 1947) is a former bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire. Robinson was elected bishop coadjutor in 2003 and succeeded as bishop diocesan in March 2004. Before becoming bishop, he served as Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of New Hampshire. Robinson is widely known for being the first openly gay priest to be consecrated a bishop in a major Christian denomination believing in the historic episcopate, a matter of significant controversy. The ''Book of Common Prayer'' (BCP) is the name given to a number of related prayer books used in the Anglican Communion and by other Christian churches historically related to Anglicanism. The original book, published in 1549 in the reign of King Edward VI of England, was a product of the English Reformation following the break with Rome. Anglican Diocese Of San Joaquin
The Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin (ADSJ) is a diocese in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). It came into being after a majority of congregants in the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin separated from the Episcopal Church in 2007. Prior to the separation, the Episcopal Church diocese was one of the most conservative in the church, and one of three that did not ordain women (the others being the dioceses of Quincy and Fort Worth). The Anglican diocese is now headquartered in Fresno. The pre-separation diocese had a membership of approximately 8,500. Those who did not separate continue to constitute the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin (EDSJ). Following the separation, the departing group was initially named as a diocese of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone. Dennis Canon
The Dennis Canon is a common (though unofficial and unfavored) name used for Title I.7.4 (as presently numbered) of the Canons of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America (also called The Episcopal Church, or TEC). The Canon seeks to impose a trust, in favor of the Episcopal Church, on property held by a local group of Episcopal adherents (whether a parish, mission, or congregation). The Canon's intended effect is to discourage a local group from withdrawing from the Episcopal Church, as under the Dennis Canon such property would revert to the Episcopal Church. Henry Luke Orombi
Henry Luke Orombi (born 11 October 1949) in Pakwach, North Western Uganda, is a Ugandan Anglican bishop. He served as Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala from 2004 until his retirement in December 2012, two years earlier than expected. He was succeeded as Archbishop by Stanley Ntagali, who was consecrated in December 2012. Orombi served as Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, which is the fixed episcopal see of the Archbishop, but unlike many other fixed metropolitical sees, the incumbent is not officially known as "Archbishop of Kampala", but bears the longer compound title "Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala".
