Bill Roth (sportscaster)
William B. Roth is an American television and radio sportscaster. Longtime play-by-play voice of Virginia Tech Hokies football and men's basketball from 1988 to 2015 and again starting in 2022 for Hokies Football, Roth also served as an announcer for the Richmond Braves from 1993–96, and spent 2015-16 with the UCLA Bruins before joining ESPN in 2016. Education Roth was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. While in high school, he interned for radio station KDKA and later at the Duquesne University campus station. Roth graduated from Syracuse University's S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1987. It was at Syracuse where Roth began his broadcasting career at campus station WAER where he was a radio sportscaster for the Syracuse Orange sports. Josh Lewin is an American sportscaster who works as a play-by-play announcer for the UCLA Bruins football and basketball teams. Early life and career Lewin is originally from Rochester, New York, but lived outside of Boston for several years as a young boy. As early as nursery school, he was an avid sports fan. He graduated from Northwestern University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, in 1990. Broadcasting career Minor league baseball Lewin got his start in broadcasting as the radio commentator for the Rochester Red Wings, then the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, at the age of 16, and became the team's regular play-by-play announcer in 1991. Michael Vick
Michael Dwayne Vick (born June 26, 1980) is a former American football quarterback. Regarded as having transformed the quarterback position with his rushing abilities, he is the NFL leader in quarterback rushing yards and was the league's first quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Vick played college football at Virginia Tech, where he received first-team All-American honors, and was selected first overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft. During his six years with the Falcons, he was named to three Pro Bowls while leading the team on two playoff runs, one division title, and an NFC Championship Game appearance. Frank Beamer
Franklin Mitchell Beamer (born October 18, 1946) is a retired American college football coach, most notably for the Virginia Tech Hokies, and former college football player. He is the father of current South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer. Beamer was a cornerback for Virginia Tech from 1966 to 1968. His coaching experience began in 1972, and from 1981 to 1986 Beamer served as the head football coach at Murray State University. He then went on to become the head football coach at Virginia Tech from 1987 until his final game in 2015. He was one of the longest tenured active coaches in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and, at the time of his retirement, was the winningest active coach at that level. ''Tech Talk Live'' (formerly called the ''Hokie Hotline'') is a weekly radio show, hosted by Hokies play-by-play announcer Bill Roth, dedicated to discussion of Virginia Tech Hokies football and men's basketball. The show airs every Monday night at 7pm during the school year. Content and Schedule The first show of each season airs the Monday before the first football game. The Monday after the last Virginia Tech football game is the final time of the season the show will discuss, or feature coaches and guests solely to talk about, Hokies football. After the final Virginia Tech basketball game of the season, the show broadcasts for the final time of the season the following Monday, after which the show is on hiatus during the summer until the beginning of the next football season.
