Big Pine (formerly, Bigpine) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Inyo County, California, United States. Big Pine is located approximately south-southeast of Bishop, at an elevation of . The population was 1,756 at the 2010 census, up from 1,350 at the 2000 census. The Big Pine Band of Owens Valley Paiute Shoshone Indians of the Big Pine Reservation operates their tribal headquarters from here. Geography Big Pine is located in the Owens Valley of California between the Sierra Nevada and the White Mountains, just west of the Owens River upstream of its diversion into the Los Angeles Aqueduct. It lies on U.S. Route 395, the main north–south artery through the Owens Valley, connecting the Inland Empire to Reno, Nevada. US 395 also connects Big Pine to Los Angeles via State Route 14 through Palmdale. Big Pines, California
Big Pines is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is in the Angeles National Forest, San Gabriel Mountains. Geography The community is located in the Swarthout Valley, which was first settled in 1851. It is bordered on the east by the San Bernardino County line and the town of Wrightwood. It is the highest elevation settlement located on the San Andreas Fault. To the west of Big Pines is Jackson Lake, a sag pond located on the San Andreas Fault. The lake is home to many recreational activities. Recreation Big Pines began as a year-round recreation area built by Los Angeles County in 1924. It is a popular ski area close to Los Angeles, as it has a history of significant snowfall, even as late as May. The Mountain High Ski Resort and the Table Mountain Observatory are located in Big Pines. This is a list of lakes of Minnesota. Although promoted as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", Minnesota has 11,842 lakes of or more. The 1968 state survey found 15,291 lake basins, of which 3,257 were dry. If all basins over 2.5 acres were counted, Minnesota would have 21,871 lakes. The prevalence of lakes has generated many repeat names. For example, there are more than 200 Mud Lakes, 150 Long Lakes, and 120 Rice Lakes. All but four of Minnesota's 87 counties (Mower, Olmsted, Pipestone and Rock) contain at least one natural lake. Minnesota's lakes provide 44,926 miles of shoreline, more than the combined lake (~32,000 mi) and coastal (3,427 mi) shorelines of California.
