Texas County is a county located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,487. Its county seat is Houston. The county was organized in 1843 as Ashley County, changing its name in 1845 to Texas, after the Republic of Texas. Big Creek (Current River)
Big Creek is a stream in Shannon and Texas counties in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It is a tributary of the Current River. The stream headwaters are in Texas County at and the confluence with the Current is in the northwest corner of Shannon County at . Cedargrove lies just north of the confluence.
