Biathlon At The 2022 Winter Olympics – Mixed Relay
The mixed relay competition of the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 5 February, at the National Biathlon Centre, in the Zhangjiakou cluster of competition venues, north of Beijing, at an elevation of . The event was won by Norway. France was second, and the Russian Olympic Committee third. Summary The defending champions were France, and the 2018 silver and bronze medalists were Norway and Italy, respectively. There was only one mixed relay in the 2021–22 Biathlon World Cup before the Olympics, won by Norway, with Belarus second and France third. Norway were also the 2021 world champion. Marte Olsbu Røiseland comfortably won the first leg for Norway, who was 15 seconds ahead of Italy, followed by Belarus, Sweden, and the Russian Olympic Committee. The biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Biathlon World Championships 2021
The Biathlon World Championships 2021 took place in Pokljuka, Slovenia, from 9 to 21 February 2021. Host selection On 4 September 2016, Tyumen won the voting (25 votes) during the 12th IBU Congress in Chisinau in Moldova over Pokljuka in Slovenia (13 votes) and Nové Město na Moravě in the Czech Republic (11 votes). Also Antholz-Anterselva, Italy, withdrew their bid for 2021 championships before the vote took place due to winning of an election for the host of the 2020 event. Just before the Biathlon World Championships 2017 in Hochfilzen, Austria, IBU forced Russia to give back rights due to the doping scandal, for revote process after 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea. Denise Herrmann-Wick (née Herrmann, born 20 December 1988) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. She won gold at 2022 Winter Olympics – Women's individual, won gold at Biathlon World Championships 2019 – Women's pursuit and won gold at Biathlon World Championships 2023 – Women's sprint. Previously, she has competed in FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2009. Herrmann has won several medals at the World Cup events. Sebastian Samuelsson (born 28 March 1997) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Martin Ponsiluoma (born 8 September 1995) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He ended up on a World Cup podium position for first time when he came third during competitions in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic on 20 December 2018. In the 2021 World Championships, he won gold in the sprint, which was also his first world cup win.
