Jamshed Bharucha is an Indian-American cognitive neuroscientist who has served in leadership roles in higher education. He is the Founding Vice Chancellor of Sai University, Chennai, and is a member of the Board of Advisors of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (I.I.M.U.N.). Chitra Bharucha MBE, FRCPath, FRSA, (born 6 April 1945) is a former consultant haematologist and former vice chairman of the BBC Trust, the governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation. She became the first woman and first South Asian ("Asian" in British English) to head the BBC Born in Madurai, India, she has lived in the UK since 1972. She was educated at Ewart School, Madras and Christian Medical College Vellore, gaining her medical qualification before moving to the UK in 1972. Albert Turner Bharucha-Reid (November 13, 1927 February 26, 1985) was an American mathematician and theorist who worked extensively on probability theory, Markov chains, and statistics. The author of more than 70 papers and 6 books, his work touched on such diverse fields as economics, physics, and biology. Life Bharucha-Reid was born Albert Turner Reid, the son of William Thaddeus Reid and Mae Marie Beamon Reid of Hampton, Virginia. He studied math and biology at Iowa State University, where completed a BS in 1949. Colonel Kurush Bharucha-Reid or "KB" (29 March 1955 – 26 May 2010) gained prominence as an intelligence and special operations expert in the United States Army from 1973 to 2010 who garnered respect across the US Special Operations and United States Intelligence Community for his significant impacts on Defense HUMINT. Jimmy Bharucha, was a Sri-Lankan Parsi broadcaster called a 'colossus in Sri Lanka's broadcasting world'. Bharucha died in Colombo in June 2005. Bharucha who was educated at St. Peter's College, Colombo, had a career in broadcasting spanning 46 years. He was a pioneer of Radio Ceylon and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and his velvet voice was popular not only in Sri Lanka but across the Indian sub-continent. Zubin Minoo Bharucha (born 8 January 1970) is an Indian former first-class cricketer who played for Bombay and Surrey County Cricket Club. Perin Bharucha Chandra (October 2, 1918, – January 7, 2015) was an Indian author, communist, freedom fighter and peace activist. Sam Piroj Bharucha (November 1, 1936) was the 30th Chief Justice of India, serving from November 2001 until his retirement in 2002. He began his legal career as an advocate of the Bombay High Court in 1960, and was appointed an Additional Judge in 1977. His judgeship was made permanent in 1978, and in 1991 he was appointed Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. He is a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy and a retired Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies which he taught in the School of Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, between 2012 and 2018. Bharuch (), formerly known as Broach, is a city at the mouth of the river Narmada in Gujarat in western India. Bharuch is the administrative headquarters of Bharuch District. The city of Bharuch and surroundings have been settled since times of antiquity. It was a ship building centre and sea port in the pre-compass coastal trading routes to points West, perhaps as far back as the days of the pharaohs.
